What is a word that is stronger than beautiful but not quite perfect? - English Language & Usage Stack Exchange
Single word for "wise woman" - English Language & Usage Stack Exchange
What are your favorite words or short phrases to describe a powerful woman?
WTW for a woman who is strong, demanding, exudes confidence, dresses powerfully, comands respect.
Aside from the obvious ones like “fierce” and “boss” what word or phrase describes a badass, brave, confident woman ready to rumble with the world?
I can't think of a single word for near-perfect, but there are many that describe a beautiful woman.
Elegant, gorgeous, ideal, lovely, stunning, radiant, exquisite, fair, fetching, delicate, divine, dazzling, enticing, enthralling, magnificent, resplendent, mesmerizing, charming, captivating, adorable, alluring.
From @Graffito: Superb, majestic, marvelous, sumptuous, admirable
You could always describe her many appealing features in succession followed by a single imperfection to convey the idea better. Or preface one of the listed words with near-*
Hope this helps!
I always liked exquisite, that would seem to be in the ballpark
What about oracle?
It's lost some gender specificity, but still has a definite feminine association. It also has a mystical undertone, but implies wisdom (or at least special knowledge). From Merriam-Webster:
a person giving wise or authoritative decisions or opinions
This question begs another: Why would an intelligent person need to genderize a label for intelligence?
An awkward contrivance you could possibly force (say, luminaress) but to do so you'll be swimming against the great modern tide to eliminate genderized forms. (Ask any actor or waiter, just to start.)
