I am curious to get some opinions on my plumber's install of a 2" copper supply line. What would you change? I am currently waiting for the permit approval, so the trench is still open for another couple days. One change that I plan to make is to add a tee before the shutoff valve before the PRV to add another access into the 2" line for possibly irrigation or fire sprinklers.
One issue we have is the backflow valve is causing about a 10 psi drop which is dropping us down from 60 psi at the street to 50 psi at the house. 50 psi isn't bad, but it's kind of a bummer when you're used to 60 psi and now you're at 50. I am considering a booster pump, and I am open to suggestions for which one.
Why 2"? Planning ahead. If we ever want to make some changes to the house, we will likely need a fire sprinkler system which requires a 2" supply line. Also, the meter is currently a 1" meter, but I am going to discuss with the water company about possibly upgrading to a 2" meter so that I. can match the diameter of the pipe. Also, the tall loop before going into the house is for future expansion as well. We are considering adding a smart shutoff valve like a Flologic or Water Hero, a booster pump, and possibly a water filter and water softener system.
