Haven’t seen a lot of new horror movies, but since Halloween is coming up, I’m in the mood to see some. But I personally wanna be terrified and know the top most terrifying movies from these years.

Hereditary scared me. The Ring scared me. I enjoyed the new Pet Sematary, wasn’t totally scared though. It Follows scared me. I’m trying to find the scariest ones!

It Comes At Night did not scare me.

None of the Annabelles, Conjuring, or Paranormal Activities scare me.

Or maybe ones I’ve missed from the past 10 years that are terrifying.

I don't see a lot of people talking about this movie. I was recommended it by a friend, I've seen it twice and I honestly wouldn't mind watching it a third time.

The plot is interesting, the acting is fantastic, it doesn't constitute any of the classic "There's a creepy noise over there so I'm gonna be an idiot and go investigate", the characters are really strong, the soundtrack is great. While I can't say it offers much in the way of real scares during the movie, the bone chilling ending more than makes up for it.

10/10 would definitely recommend.

I know this is a well known and pretty famous movie but I rarely see it getting mentioned much on here.

Rewatched it last night and it actually is such a good movie , the whole storyline slowly shifts from this creepy and eerie vibe to a strong build up and a backstory of the characters and I thoroughly liked this change in the tone alongwith maintaining the doppelganger trope.

The whole invasion bit was actually so well done and it was honestly pretty creepy (when that doppelganger starts speaking , it was quite chilling). I absolutely loved the characters and Lupita Nyong'o (the main protagonist) gave such an outstanding performance!

It's a pretty strong flick and I feel like it's somewhat getting forgotten lately. What are your thoughts?

I'm usually an avid movie viewer who probably had seen the best in the genre from the modern era. But, from time to time, there are certain titles that simply go under the radar which I would only encounter later. Having been busying myself with work, I probably would have missed some good horror movies between the years 2018 and 2019. Can anyone give me a good horror movie title within that span of time which I might have missed?

By the way, aside from pure horror genre, I'm also into movies that are mixed between horror and comedy.

What are the standout horror movies of 2022-2024 so far? I’ve been searching, but haven’t come across any new ones that truly impressed me. Any recommendations?

Small cast, a small setting and an intriguing plot that makes you guess what this movie is about. This movie is BLEAK. And the tone immediately sets off after the first 5-10 minutes. It definitely has some good twists to it and it’s just an overall fucked up movie. I don’t want to spoil too much, but this movie will give you thrills and chills. What are your thoughts on “The Lodge” (2019)?

I just finished the movie less than 60 seconds ago. Sure I likely have after movie feel goodys, but please don't be like me and just watch it. It's 110 minutes of your life.

What are movies between that timeline, that you enjoyed, but haven't seen them recommended here enough. Doesn't have to be a great movie, just something you had good time with.

Some I enjoyed: Unwelcome (2022), Baghead (2023) (was surprised how under radar this went with well known actress). What You Wish For (2023). I haven't seen anyone mentioning this. It's Thriller/horror.

Before anyone judges me. This is just a way to narrow down to answers. I do like old movies, but there's enough posts about them and I have found some hidden gems from those posts.

I'm a huge fan of horror, especially horror movies. I find myself deriving immense pleasure from watching them, more so than action or drama films.

The horror genre, in my opinion, stands out as something truly special. Lately, however, I've been growing increasingly bored with horror movies. Nothing seems to scare me anymore, keeping me awake at night, anxiously looking over my shoulder to check if that shadow in my room is just my clothes or perhaps something more sinister.

I recently watched 'Evil Dead Rise' in the cinema, and while it was a cool movie, it didn't really send chills down my spine. That's why I'm turning to you for recommendations on the best horror films, preferably those that delve into psychological horror.

I'd love to experience fear on a mental level, with as few jump scares as possible. Movies that have resonated with me in the past include 'Dead Silence' (2007), 'Smile' (2022), 'The Babadook' (2014), and 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (1974), to name a few. They all managed to evoke fear without relying heavily on jump scares. Although 'Smile' was genuinely terrifying until the 'monster' took a tangible form. I thrive on the fear of the unknown, and I can't wait to explore more films that capture that feeling. Thank you in advance for your recommendations

Hi all. I liked the 2019 film Haunt. A lot of people didn't, but I did. I don't know why I did; I guess because it felt new to me (even without all-that-great characters). That being the case, I want to ask: People who also liked Haunt, what are some other horror films you like?

If you care, some of my favorite are The Babadook, The Witch, Hereditary, The Lighthouse, and Midsommar, also The Cabbin in the Woods and Mayhem.

I need one that horrifies my friends. Amidst a bunch of real life problems and trying to escape real life, we're having a small Halloween party and we're probably going to watch a couple. Like Get Out, X, Us, The Lighthouse, something psychological maybe? I think this is the right place to ask :D
