Starting a 3/4 person podcast. What equipment will we need
cheapest possible gear for a 3/4 person podcast? <$200 possible?
For the absolute rock bottom prices go used. Look on ebay for a Zoom Podtrak P4 that seems to fit your needs well. Up to 4 mics with options for a phone or pc/tablet/ipad just not all at once. Go to your closest guitar center. If you're near a big city they'll likely have $15-25 dollar dynamic handheld mics from some cheap brand like pyle or beringer or no name. This setup for around 200 will sound much better than almost any usb mic. And each week you can get something small like a new cable or a pop filter or desk stand and the quality will just go up and up. Hope this helps and have fun! Watch lots of YouTube tutorials!

If you won't be using Skype (or you will but only with two local people), look at a Behringer UMC404HD interface for $100, ~$20 per person for XLR cable and desk stand and say a three pack of Behringer XM1800S mics for $40 for the three pack. A slightly better mic is the XM8500 for $20 each.
That ballparks your budget and will be pretty good quality.
