Hi.. matt firm employee here! While I can't speak for ALL beds.. I can speak immediately for the 3 on our wall.. because they fit the size reference here. The snug, doze, and curve. 8 inch is 4 inches of support foam and 4 inches of comfort foam (2 inches of that is gel infused foam) Going to the doze you increase everything by an inch. 5 inches support foam and 5 inches comfort foam (2.5 gel infused foam) To the curve.. same thing. 6 inches support foam. 6 inches comfort foam (3 inches gel infused). So what does that all mean? Well.. support foam is stiff it's design to resist giving like the comfort layers do. They comfort layers are your surface pressure relief and conformability. In terms of comfort? Some folks can feel a difference. Some can't. A lot of it depends on you and your body type. So find the one you feel best on. Because without that knowledge it's hard to recommend a bed to anyone. Again this is for the beds at mfrm. I can't speak for all the other beds out there that follow this pattern.. but they likely follow a similar upgrade system. More on reddit.com

Sleepy’s by Sealy Basic Memory Foam Firm This is a good 8” option for stomach and side sleeping. It’s labeled as a firm, but it’s more of a medium-firm. My wife and I have the older version in our 7yr daughter’s room. I end up sleeping in there fairly often, and I find it comfortable (side/stomach sleeper) It’s $999 in a Full size. Not sure what your budget is, but you can always negotiate with the salesperson. More on reddit.com

No experience with that brand but gel infused isn’t all its cracked up to be. The gel takes on the ambient temp so when you first lay down it feels cool but will earn to your body temp in the night. If the mattress material naturally sleeps hot then the bell will take on this temp and you may wake up hot in the night. My advice? Keep your twin and save up for a higher quality mattress. $300 is a bargain basement price and you can expect the sleeping experience to mirror that. More on reddit.com
