I worked full time at the fulfillment center in Carteret and am friends with an ex-part timer who worked at the Teterboro facility. I’ll mention my experience and see if can get my friends input on here later. It fucking sucked. We worked from 7:30am-6pm. Sometimes starting at 6:30am to meet quotas and deadlines. There is no warm up to getting acquainted with work for the morning. Your expected to meet a high level of performance and keep it until your time for break/lunch. That means no talking, no bathroom breaks and no slowing down. You are expected to work. But the expectations are high. Wanting you to meet your deadlines every hour until your shift is up. Safety is a joke. It took a month to become certified for equipment use I was expected to use every day. If your injured then they’ll do everything they can to either send you back to work or fire you. I’ve heard stories of employees being injured and then having more work piled upon them till they quit. The only form of actual care on site you’ll receive is a band aid and some Advil. I was taking 2 Advil everyday for the pain and experiencing muscle cramps for weeks. Breaks are a joke. If you want to use the break room you need to walk from your station to it. Which could take 5-10 minutes depending on where you are in the facility. This counts as your break btw. Then you sit and before your 15 minutes is up they expect you to be back at your station before break is over. If you don’t come back and start working they’ll come over and give you the speech about your performance what they expect out of you while your here. The only saving grace is what they call vto. (Voluntary time off). If your shift is slow that day your manager will ask if you want vto. It basically comes down to a free day off with no pay. You can take as much as you want as long as they give it to you. Your available time off is super limited. Only being a few days and refilling every 3 months. Management knows they treat people poorly. They just choose to not make a change. After I left I had heard from a friend that there was fire where everyone was evacuated. When they were given the all clear from management employees were immediately sent back to work. If you can work anywhere else. Work there instead. Work at Shoprite. Work at Kroger’s. Work anywhere else. But if you desperately need full time and the pay they hand out, then do it. But for me it wasn’t worth the pain and the crying and the emotional strain I went through.
