So, I have always been a big fan of Anker products for charging and adapters. I first started using the combo of Anker Nano II 65W Charger & Anker 333 USB-C Cable about 18 months ago. It was great. Super small form factor on the block and a high quality 100w rated braided cable in varying lengths. I actually for my first charger a couple of months prior to my FW13 (11th gen). Since that time, this has been great for when I travel and I have had zero problems......until June of this year. I started having an issue where it just wouldn't charge. Or it would, but only after I power cycled or closed the lid and sometimes not then. After troubleshooting (a lot), I did a mainboard reset and it seemed to work after......for a few hours. Then I did it again and it worked again...for a few hours. I changed out the CMOS battery, because the symptoms were consistent (and I had gaps in use in my FW prior to this happening). I still continued to have issues when away from home and then noticed melted plastic over the USB Controller. Within 12 hours of going back and forth between FW support, they had a replacement board on the way. I swapped out boards, no problem, then a few weeks later......it wouldn't charge again. After much, much troubleshooting, I actually just swapped out the Anker 333 cable.....and it worked. No problems. Charged perfectly. So I thought that it was a random, faulty cable. Fast forward 2 months, my FW is charging fine and then i start getting the flashing yellow light on the side and blinking lighting bolt on the charging meter again....and it's not charging. Same, exact issue.
Now it could be ANOTHER faulty cable. However, the cord sometimes works just fine and it ALWAYS works fine for charging my phone. No issues there (even with teh previous cable that I tossed). Is there any inkling that this might be something on the FW side that is having issues or is it likely that I got very unlucky and have had two high quality cables fail in a short period of time. Note that I treat my cables gently and properly wrap (no kinks) and store them.
Also, has anyone else had similar issues with this? I love FW, but this is beyond frustrating, especially with how short the battery lifespan of this machine is to begin with.
