I needed to download the Adobe Acrobat app to help fill out these forms for a staffing agency, and a subscription is required with a 3 day free trial. I’ve been busy moving the last few days and completely forgot to cancel it until I saw a notification from my PayPal saying I got charged a whole $76 for the yearly subscription.
I requested a refund from Apple support, and this is my first time requesting a refund. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Apple being lenient with refunds. Is there a chance I may get refunded? I know it’s my fault for not cancelling immediately which I usually do with free trials, but I’ve been so caught up with moving and running around these last few days that I completely forgot.
EDIT: Checked my refund update, they’re refunding me!
I forgot to cancel a free trial subscription and just got charged. Would I have a better chance choosing the "I forgot to cancel" option or the "I'd like to request a refund" and writing a message there. I have no past history with requesting refunds if that changes anything.
A good rule of thumb for the future. Whenever you start a trial subscription immediately go into subscriptions and cancel it.
They are typically very understanding especially if you canceled right away after realizing. Happened to me twice and both times they refunded. Obviously if it happens “all the time” they won’t but everyone forgets at some point.
So, my question is that if I purchase an app to try it out, will I get a refund? For instance, I buy an app, use it for ten minutes. Is this an exclusionary reason for me to receive a refund?
Unlike most times when you buy a product and you don't like it, you are able to return it; however, in my experience, that is not the case with Apple and their app refund policy. Be careful when buying an app and be absolutely sure you want it, if you get it and its not what you expect, good luck getting your money back. Seems as though all sales are final! I'm sure I'll get downvoted on this but it's incredibly frustrating.
My younger brother subscribed free trial in Chess.com app, but apple store automatically purchased diamond member after free trial. Would apple refund to me ?
can someone please help me? i made an accidental subscription through apple (in app), and the amount is really high. i’ve already requested a refund twice, but apple has denied both requests. i'm feeling really frustrated and don’t know what to do next.
here's the situation: • the purchase was accidental. • the amount is quite large, and I really need to get this resolved. • i've submitted two refund requests, but both were rejected by apple. • i've checked my purchase history and followed the usual refund process, but nothing seems to be working.
i also sent an email to the app’s support email, but I haven’t received any response.
has anyone here dealt with something similar and managed to get a refund from apple? any advice on what steps i should take next or how to improve my chances would be really appreciated.
I bought Freeletics on the App Store for $125. Their app description clearly states a 14 day money back guarantee. Twice. I tried it out and the app sucks so I requested a refund through Report a Problem from Apple within a few days. Since I requested a refund, I lost access to the app. Apple denied my refund twice saying that I’m “ineligible.” I’ve talked to a bunch of Apple specialists who all do the same thing - deny me and try to placate me by making a note of my complaint.
So now I have no shitty app and I’m out $125. Freeletics won’t give me access back because I requested a refund. Apple won’t give me a refund. I’d really just like my money back.
My current plan is just to keep messaging and calling Apple support to waste at least $125 of their time. I didn’t actually do that. It would be a huge waste of my own time. In my own pettiness, I’ve made sure to cancel all of my subscriptions through the App Store. From now on I’ll only use apps that let me handle a subscription from their websites. My credit card has better refund protection than Apple does.
Some clarifying information - Freeletics states twice in their app description that they offer a 14 day money back guarantee. You cannot access the pro features without purchasing. I made a refund request well within those 14 days. I told this to Apple. They didn’t care.
Hi guys hope you are all well! Today I made a purchase for 12 months of a Surfshark VPN subscription and when I tried to access it it was not working atall on any of my devices so I tried to cancel and get a refund, they said I must go through Apple to do so which i inevitably did. They also said although they have a 30 day money back guarantee it is up to apples discrepancy to refund me. I cancelled the subscription about an hour after buying it, do you think I will get the refund I rarely get refunded for items and do not abuse the system in anyway? Any help is greatly appreciated thank you in adance!
I bought an expensive monthly subscription for an app that did not work. I only had it a few days despite it being $250 a month. I asked apple for a refund or at bare minimum a pro-rated refund and apple denied me.
Regardless of it not working, paying for the app for a whole month and only having it two days, apple doesn’t give a shit because they are greedy fucks and want their cut of the subscription.
I was told if I did a chargeback then they may disable my apple ID. A way for the greedy cunts to leverage you.
Apple is fucking evil greedy fucks. They used to do refunds not anymore though. They just leverage you and provide zero consumer protections.
Why YSK: sometimes we forget to cancel before the free trial ends (or after!) you can cancel anytime and request a refund of any fees associated with each app, even if you have used them. Say I downloaded canva 3 months ago and used it a handful of times but won’t use it again. I can “report an issue” in my iTunes account and choose from the drop down menu “forgot to cancel” for each month (in this case, 3 months) and they will refund you for all 3 months.
(England) - I set up my 10 year old child's new iPad so app store purchases were blocked . He could ask me if he wanted to buy something - I'd review it and if I agreed, I could enter the password and agree the purchase.
However, although the App Store block was working, somehow in-app purchases were not. He has mental health issues, got out of control and made over £2000 worth of in-app game purchases in just a few days while I was away.
I confiscated the iPad and contacted support immediately via the chat. After over an hour, the expert was able to isolate the issue down to just one email address buried in a menu that for some bizarre reason left the in-app purchases open. He agreed with me that it was ridiculous that in-apps should still work when the store purchases were blocked, that the purchases were clearly unauthorised and due to an error, and that I would be refunded.
He asked me to initiate the refund process via the web page which I did. However all but a single one of 74 purchases were refused. I contacted support chat again who told me to dispute it via the web page and provide more info, which I did. All of the refunds were refused again. Now there is no option to dispute.
My position is that all of these purchases on my card were unauthorised. An incorrect address buried in a menu that did not seem related to in-apps even when the expert identified the issue does not constitute 'authorisation'. The system in my view is way too complicated and obtuse to expect parents to get it set up correctly every time and there was zero indication that in-apps would work; why would one expect them to if the store block itself was working?
I'm aware of Apple's T+Cs and do not see how any of their criteria therein would justify refusing the refunds, other than that they simply want to keep my money. Nor should they be allowed to ignore statutory rights.
What he bought was in-game currency to gamble to try to win characters. The game is essentially a gambling app disguised as a game in order to addict children and sucker them into £90 purchases. We had no idea this was what it was - when I first reviewed it, it looked exactly like a harmless RPG game. I personally think this should be banned. It's literally trying to get kids hooked on gambling and rip off their parent's cards - what child can afford £90 purchases?
I read up on this and found out that it is a huge issue, and that Apple were already forced to repay $35 million in the US alone via class action suits. Despite this, they continue to do it.
I want a refund :
- has anyone had success in this situation?
- Am I likely to get a different result from phoning Apple instead?
- What are the repercussions of going to my bank to request a chargeback on the debit card in question?
- Are there other ways to try?
I have put a fortune into Apple and their products. I am extremely upset at this all and would appreciate help resolving it. Thanks.
Moving from Windows Based VSTs to iPad I was dismayed to find virtually no trial versions of music gear apps.
I wasted a lot of money buying apps I ended up hating (YT videos only take you so far). Till some kind soul on this sub pointed out you can request a refund.
That has worked well, but the last few times I've tried Apple has refused to refund me. Interestingly they have been less expensive apps under ten dollars.
I don't like that they don't give me a reason. It just says not eligible. I don't know if I've hit some sort limit for total refunds. I didn't see any requirements like that.
I challenged the last one which was just an eight dollar plug-in. I pointed out it was impossible to tell if it was usable for me till I tried it with other apps I planned to use it with. They shot back pretty fast with another no and no explanation but saying their decision was final.
Anyone else having this sort of thing or am I on the wrong side of Apple now? I disconnected from iCloud maybe that has something to do with it?
Hello! Recently I forgot to cancel two free trials for a couple apps that I’d purchased. I figured it wouldn’t be an issue getting them refunded, and went to reportaproblem.com to request a refund. Both refund requests were denied, so I requested they be reviewed, but still it says they’re ineligible for refunds.
When I called Apple support they said that there is nothing they can do to reverse the charges, and my only option would be contacting my bank and reporting them as fraud. I also contacted both of the apps to ask if they could refund on their end and was told it must be done through Apple.
Both of these charges were for $59.99, and this has over drafted my checking account. I’m very stressed about money and can’t afford $120 in fees for apps I don’t wish to use.
If I do end up refuting these charges with my bank can anyone tell me what will happen? Should I call Apple support again and ask for a manager? It didn’t seem like there was anything that could be done on their end, but I really really need this money back :(
And yes, I’ve definitely learned my lesson this time about signing on for free trials.
I've accidentally purchased a subscription in VSCO because I thought it was a free trial. I immediately requested for a refund and then I received an email that it was already refunded but I haven't received it yet. Does any of you have an experience like this? If so, how long before you got your refund?
I’m so mad I’m about to chargeback and truly don’t care if they block my Apple ID. My daughter woke me up in tears a couple nights ago because she accidentally fought $199.99 worth of Robux. I immediately grabbed my phone to check my purchase history thinking she didn’t really do it and my lock screen had the “Ask to Purchase” code that was sent to me. I was a bit relieved and even showed it to her to explain I have to approve it. I still continued to look up my purchase history and I didn’t see anything, but she was so frantic it actually happened that I asked her to run back upstairs to get her iPad so I could see and when she came back I looked at her account and there was 6500 Robux/credits on her account. Can’t remember exactly, but from their buy screen it seemed to be about $50 or so worth.
I was somewhat relieved again that it was only that amount, but immediately I still requested a refund with the bought without approval selection if I remember correctly. I calmed her down for the night and went back to bed. She is a worrisome girl and honestly a little “paranoid” after her mother and I divorced, so right when she woke up and the entire way to school she was still upset about it. I reassured her I requested a refund and it wasn’t a big deal regardless. Later that day I came back home after dropping her older sister off at an activity and she was waiting for me at the door with every dollar bill and penny she has saved up and handed it to me to pay me back and it broke my heart, so I reassured her again and again.
Well it ended up getting denied later that night so I requested the second refund request where you can explain a bit more. I explained it was an accident, it was caught within 5-10 minutes, the approval code was never given for authorization and so forth. That next day I didn’t even mention it when again it was the first thing she asked and just explained it took time. She asked again after school and got the same answer. Well now I just got the second denial with no third option and I’m beyond frustrated.
I have NEVER since I’ve had the original iPhone requested a refund. I had the parental controls set to authorize purchases. Can’t count the amount of iPhones, iPads, MBPs, iMacs, Airs, apps and accessories I’ve bought over the years. Heck I’ve had a cracked screen for 5 months on a new 15Pro Max with Apple care that I just didn’t care enough about to go through the waste and time to get replaced and now they want to screw me over for a measly $200. Luckily my account is tied to my business card so I if it wasn’t so late at the moment I would setup a replacement for my phone and then the next call to my card company to file a charge back. I know corporations don’t give a damn about consumers, but I did everything right setting up purchasing for my kids and have never once raised a peep. I’m not sure where to go from here…..
Edit: Sorry for the long post. I’m a bit frustrated at the moment.
Hello, I am a college student who subscribed to this academic related app’s free trial. It was a 3 day free trial and after three days I forgot to cancel my subscription which was an honest mistake and they took $10 off of my account. I filed for a refund and they said it’s not eligible, I tried convincing them by writing why I should be given a refund but I am sure that they would deny it for the second time.
Anyone knows where can I reach out to get my money back? Does apple has live chat support? Thank you so much.
EDIT: Funny, I went in here because it says AppleHelp not AppleJudge or whatever. But people in here seem to be so perfect that they’ve never had mistakes their whole life and so quick for judging me over $10. Forgetting to cancel a free trial DOES NOT make me an irresponsible person already. But at the same time money is still a money no matter how cheap it is so I was hoping there’s some way I could get it back, but clearly if there’s not then sure, like as if I have any other choice? Why would I stress myself if there’s no way to refund it anyway.
Anyway, for the perfect people on my comment box you don’t have to tell me to learn my lesson. Because nobody says I won’t. Matter of fact I have already told myself to be cautious next time before I even posted here. I was here to ask for help and not for some of y’all to give me an obvious lesson I didn’t even asked for.
I was using my phone today and there was an in-app as popped up for a paid subscription. There was a slight delay and when I hit my home button, it ended up letting the payment go through even though I had no intention of making the purchase. I contacted Apple twice, via chat and phone and they refused my refund both times. I contacted them as soon as the purchase was made. Will I have any issues if I dispute/void the purchase with my credit card company in regards to my Apple account? I've only been an iPhone user since May. With Google Play, refunds were no questions asked.
EDIT: I also cancelled the subscription as soon as it happened. If this was a $5-10 charge, I wouldn't really care. But $50 is ridiculous.
I accidentally bought the wrong app. I haven’t even opened the app. Anyway I can “un download” the app and have it refunded?
Thanks
Hi has anyone ever requested a refund for a subscription and did you get a refund? I made a couple of payments then cancelled subscription right away. I paid for something yesterday and it was a load of crap, in app purchase feature made no difference whatsoever to the basic features, so I got annoyed & now want my money back because it’s a complete waste of money. I messaged the support chat & they gave me a link for App Store refund request which I didn’t know about.
My nephew recently purchased something from Pixel Gun 3D game and i got charged $600 from my iPad. As soon as I got the charge, I filed for a refund claim but it got denied. I sent them a dispute and it's still pending. I'm expecting the worst and thinking it would still be denied.
What should be my next step for this? Should I call my bank and say that my account was compromised? Is there a chance I can get my money back?
