Is it black or blue? I really thought it was black when I ordered it but today someone told me it's actually dark blue?
Hey so I’m looking at swapping my damaged AW8 for AW9. I currently have the Starlight aluminium but think I want something darker this time. I’d love the black stainless steel but out of my budget so was thinking the midnight aluminium however it looks very blue/navy on the Apple site. Does anyone have any real life images of it they could share please?

I’ve read that this color is sort of black, sort of blue. Can anyone share their thoughts? I want to get the series 8 but I really want something dark like my space gray SE. Definitely would prefer it be more black than blue. Thanks!
I have a midnight S7. It’s basically black. In some lighting situations, like bright sunlight, a faint blue hue is seen mixed in. But as far as I’m concerned it’s black.
It’s black-ish most of the time, but I really wish Apple just brought space gray back (or something like space black). Midnight just isn’t the same and isn’t exactly a replacement. Just like Starlight isn’t a replacement for silver (which Apple also realized now that they brought back silver). Midnight Apple Watch just doesn’t match that great with a space black Milanese loop. It looks off, also with other black bands.
I treated myself to a new apple watch, it was delivered last night.
My online order as well as the watches packaging say the band is 'midnight', which looks black online; however, the band i received is a dark blue. I think I received the 'storm blue' band instead.
The apple call center is closed on Sundays, so i thought I'd ask here.
Did i receive the wrong band or is 'midnight' really a navy blue?
So if you were like me and and cared about matching colours on Apple products, you can stop giving a shit, since even Apple doesn’t give a shit.

You’re welcome!
I just learned that aluminum cases tend to get scratches, so I'm wondering how the each of the colors look overtime with scratches and wear. Also, does the starlight or midnight lose color over time? Ideally I'd like stainless steel but prefer a light weight watch to wear to sleep and physical activity. Would appreciate advice. Thank you!
I went with the midnight colour option, and I think it looks really cool, but I’m concerned that it will scratch and or wear off eventually. Is that something I should be concerned about?
First world problem.
I'm just so conflicted.
On one hand, I've been trying to transition away from black and grey things in my life, I feel like the black and grey aesthetic in furniture, clothing, technology, etc., over the past decade is overrated and just takes away the color from life (literally and figuratively).
I also feel like dark colors (gray, black, maybe midnight?) don't go with my skin tone (Mediterranean, olive, Middle Eastern - a shade or two darker than white).
On the other hand, green aluminum just makes it feel like its an army watch... and I feel like as an everyday accessory, that it won't go with every article of clothing that I wear -- and that dark/neutral colors of apple watches (grey, black, white, midnight?) do a better job of unoffending by outfits compared to colors like red, yellow, green...
However, I like the "new-ness" of green aluminum, and how if anybody looks at it, they'll know that it's a series 7 and not an older series. I am vain and care about prestige just a little.

So what are your thoughts? Should I get midnight or green? I want to stick with the aluminum series because the others are outside my price range.
Just got the Midnight Sport Band and it's a little more dark gray than black, as it is described online. It's even lighter than the color on the box. Maybe I can call this "light black" if that's a thing.
Is this the case for others with the band? Did I somehow get a defective one?
I think it looks great but I’m a bit hesitant because I’m thinking it would look off with certain outfits.
What do you guys think?
Would midnight be better?
Planning to buy the Apple watch series 9 in midnight color but confused between the midnight and storm blue sports band. Help me make a decesion.
I'm (male) in doubt between those colors, thats my impressions about them:
Midnight: Slick, classic, don't draw attention but it seems a bit boring to me;
Starlight: It looks like a "real" Apple Watch haha to me, stylish but I'm not sure if it gets odd with sporty clothes, gym, or more formal outfits. Of if its too much... Im not really into fashion.
Not ovethinking I prefer starlight, but at this point I don't know if thats for me lol. I've seen a lot of youtube videos but it didnt helped that much.
Any thoughs, guys?
I bought a “renewed” series 7 from Amazon in the midnight color but decided to spring for a new series 8 on sale this weekend. Comparing them side by side at the store, the midnight S7 is pretty much black but the S8 looks way more blue. I don’t like the S8 midnight at all so now I guess silver is my only other choice for a true neutral color (I don’t like starlight).
Not 100% sure what the series 7 midnight looks like but I purchased a midnight leather link band back in 2021 and when I was most recently in the Apple Store, I held my midnight band up to a series 8 in midnight and the series 8 was quite a bit more blue than the band
My midnight S7 is essentially black except for certain situations like bright sunlight where there’s a very dark blue hue visible but not enough to call it anything but black. It’s a shame they would change it but leave the same name. That’s really misleading when coming from another watch. You expect continuity. I got it in midnight specifically for a neutral color to work with all bands. Good luck with the silver. The truth is if they had silver for the S7 I would have taken it, but Starlight wasn’t for me.
