This is going to be my first apple watch so obviously SE is my first choice. However, I'm just wondering if the keyboard and the tinier bezel on the series 8 is worth the extra $$$. I really think its such a stupid thing to ovethink about but if it is worth it I would gladly take it. Help me choose please 🙏

S8 has: basal temp tracker - great for people who menstruate and people with chronic illnesses on-screen keyboard bigger always-on display (can be changed to raise to wake but honestly AOD is great) O2 sensor ECG few other misc stuff SE is still good if none of that is worth the price bump for you.

Hi all

I've decided to take the plunge and get an Apple Watch. I've always worn automatic watches but for a number of reasons I feel like the time is right to make the switch into a more modern option.

My question in, what are people's thoughts on the SE (2nd gen) vs the series 8? I'm in the UK so the price difference is around £160.

I'm a man so the menstrual cycle tech isn't much good to me and I'm not particularly bothered about the dust resistance or the ECG tech.

I'll wear the watch every day for work (I spend a lot of time with clients so I think it'll be easier than checking my iPhone for notifications etc) and I run a lot so I'm hoping it will be useful in terms of the sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring and during actual 3+ hour runs etc.

I suppose the question is: is the extra cost worth it for the always-on screen? Are there any other benefits I've missed? Will the SE be sufficient for what I need?

I'm happy to pay the extra if it's worth it but I was hoping to get some good insight from everyone here.

The Series 8 has fast charge while the SE 2 does not. If you have limited time to charge it that may be important to you. I have the SE 2 and charging it every morning while I shower and get ready for work has been enough.

I went through this exact question myself and ultimately went with the SE2 - so while I may be a little biased, I can also say I’ve had no buyer’s remorse. The SE has been perfect for what I wanted it for, and the only feature I wish I had was quick charging; not because charging is an issue since I charge it for about an hour before bed every night and have plenty of battery to spare daily… I just feel like it would be nice to have quick charge, lol. That said, this was my first Apple Watch. When I eventually upgrade, I’m already thinking I may go for a flagship model next time because of how much I’ve enjoyed having it.
