tldr: I'm upset I can't recommend Asus mobos because of its dangerous software. It's not just crap, it breaks stuff. If you install armoury crate, do the minimal you need to do in it, and don't touch fans inside armoury crate.

I bought the Asus ROG strict b550-i motherboard for my itx build. I did some research on armoury crate (needed for RGB) and people said it was a horrible piece of software with bad UI. I thought I can deal with bad UI so I went ahead with it. I also got RGB ram sticks and RGB fans for the build.

Once I built my pc and installed windows, I started off by downloading my huge game library from steam, while that's going I'm tweaking with my RGB in armoury crate, I could deal with the UI, it wasn't that bad compared to my expectations. After a few hours and a lunch break later I was finally satisfied with the colours. Just in case I ran into driver problems I also didn't do updates from armoury crate as I've already downloaded them from the website.

Then on my armoury crate dashboard I saw fan speed. I tweaked my fans from bios but thought hey if I can control it from the GUI that'll make my life easier. Nope, it not having manual speed control is the least of its problems. After clicking on full speed to test it, my GPU fans stopped. It just doesn't work anymore.

When I restart my pc, while it boots my GPU fans happily spin, and the moment it boots to the login screen the fans die. I've tried so many things, disabling AsusFanControlService from services.msc, uninstalling armoury crate (with an uninstaller since it can't be removed from control panel), restarting several times...

Out of fear for my new gpu's life I decided to reset my pc, along with 20+ games that I just downloaded. It's resetting right now, will update whether reset works or I need to wipe and reinstall.

This is for a Rog Strix z790-E mobo. The fan control is literally the only reason I have Armoury Crater (AC) installed but on the last update to 6.1.13.0, the fan control seems to have vanished. I do see FanXpert in settings update center as last updated 2025/02/17 but I see no way to access the setup screen (needed to retrain fans).

The fans seem to now be controlled by the BIOS setup which is better than nothing but it can't be adjusted without rebooting and besides, the BIOS can't control fans according graphics temp. I believe all the required software is installed. What do I need to do to get it back? Can I reinstall a prior version of AC?

I have an Asus B450 II Motherboard and I was suggested to use fan control for my motherboard and delete armoury crate to remove bloatware, well I noticed that fan control cannot detect my fans if I dont open Armoury Crate and even when deleting Armoury crate it still won't detect the fans without it. If anyone can help out that would be amazing, thank you!

I have a ASUS ROG STRIX G15, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. I am trying to reduce the fan noise as it is, loud, to say the least, when playing games on "performance mode". I've been reading about the "Manual" configurations but I'm nervous about the pop up I got when I went on this tab, about potentially damaging the computer.

Does anyone have advice about how to use the safely and ideas about the best fan curves? I saw another thread where someone had configured theirs, on a different ASUS model, but I was nervous about removing the fan from going to 100% at a certain point. This is my face gaming computer so a bit lost with it all, any help appreciated. :)

Whenever I change the fan speed using the Armoury Crate app, I'm told to use the installed fan control app for advanced settings, but as far as I see, I don't have one. Anyone know what it's referring to? (B550M-Plus MB)

I have spent a couple of hours now on google to find a way or a reason to why i cant adjust by case fans by the GPU temperature. From what I have seen it seems posible for other people to do this.
I want to be able to set my bottom case fans to ramp up when either the GPU or CPU get hotter, right now they are only following the CPU temp, and in some games the CPU doesn't get that hos but the GPU get really hot.

I know that there are some other softwares that can do this but I would like to get Armoury crate to solve this problem since im forced to use Armoury crate to be able to turn off the small embedded fan in my AIO pump (This gets to laud if it goes above 20%)

This is how it looks in Fan Xpert 4. I checked in bios under ASUS Q Fan and i still only got the below options. Is there something that I can do to get my motherboard to detect the GPU temp or is it simply not possible?

I started trying to tune my fans a bit, and realized I cannot even begin to with the fan control software in AC. I use AC to manage some RGB, so may as well use it for fans, right? Newp, grayed out. So I started on an adventure to uninstall and reinstall everything. I finally just installed AC with every bit of bloat it offered me, and now instead of a grayed out fanxpert I get no fan expert at all, lol.

Had to the software in order to access some of the features (cuz can't have people just use older versions for a little longer I suppose) and now suddenly the program and even my bios doesn't recognize my case fan hub anymore when it was working fine before on that same boot. They spin when booting up the system but the moment it loads into windows they just turn off. Anyone else run into this issue? Should I just disable the fan control somehow and instead use a different fan controller? Or would that remove my ability to control the RGB on my ram (I know, at the time it was the only one of 2 kits of ram that was apparently supported by both the CPU and the mobo qvl, so it wasn't as much of a choice, but now that I have it I would like it to look decent).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: Alright, so I figured out the issue. The fan hub I had connected needs a fan attached to slot #1, which I didn't have. After connecting a fan to that slot the hub was getting detected just fine. As to why the bios was completely fine with it before the Armoury Crate update? Who knows. Sadly the software is still bugged and gave me the 238 error code, which once again disabled the fans (but at least the bios saw them now), so I uninstalled Armoury Crate, installed some separate RGB and Fan profile controllers, and now it works just fine. Hopefully this will help someone else as well.

I just got new laptop and I uninstalled Armoury Crate because everyone saying it is bad. Now i dont know how to control fan speed or mode. Can it be only done with Armoury Crate?

I updated Armory Crate last night to the new UI and layout and I cannot for the life of me find the fan control anymore. It used to be right on the opening page but now it's gone. I've searched through the whole app and can't find it. I see the fan speed, and can click individual fans, but it just highlights it and gives no options.

My PC likes to boot with fans pretty much all the way up. Haven't been able to fix it and just turning down the fan speed in the app has been working for as long as I've had it. Now after this update it's just gone. Where did it go?

I recently upgraded my ram from a single 16gb to 32gb dual channel with the speed of 4000mhz. I had to enter to bios to boost the ram speed from 2666mhz to 4000mhz to take full advantage. However after that, when I tried to access the the fan control in the armoury crate to chose the fan power such as "Turbo" when I game it is not allowing me to to click on any of the fan modes but the windows one which I am on currently on by default. When I hover over with the mouse on any of the fan modes it tells me "You are using BIOS AI Tweak or have installed AI Suit III, Operating mode will be unbound."

I would like some help on how to fix the issue as it is making my GPU make unnecessary noises.

I use #Armorycrate fan control #FanXpert4 to read out alternative temperature sources. Armory crate loads via Windows 11 autostart. As alternative temperature source I used my GPU 3080 Ti FE and it worked fine until the update to Asus 5.1.5.0 and FanXpert 2.1.3.0 - now I can't select it anymore.

I am sorely disappointed with the control I have on my fans with Armory Crate. I can't make the fan speed dynamic. Reddit tells me FanControl is the answer. but I'm struggling to make fan speed dynamic with it too. I have NOT uninstalled Armory Crate yet, because I'm not convinced FC is the answer yet. Can anyone direct me in a ELI5 manner to the answer please?

I tried to run AC and (not surprisingly), it restarted my PC and completely destroyed RGB settings. And I've got this error, apparently I don't have an internet connection. Not to mention billions of services and useless junk that comes with AC and cause memory and performance drain and just poison the poisonous Win 10 even more. I like Asus HW and don't want to switch to different brand anytime soon but I need to find some good alternative to this cancer. Mostly for fans, I know I can change it in Bios but I would like to have an option to control them without restarting. And since I am using RGB practically with each colour used for different temperature range, I would like to set it up as well.

I've read that many people use iCue from Corsair but according to their manual, I need to have AC installed as well. And then SignalRGB is recommended but they use subscription system to get fan control function (why one cannot just buy product anymore?)

Can someone recommend me any alternative software which can substitute both function? Either for the reasonable price, free or at least with a trial version to have a chance to try it.

My laptop is an Asus ROG Strix G15. Since some time, all of a sudden, my laptop fan has been going crazy. In armoury crate, there are 3 modes: silent (in which the fan doesn't turn on at all), performance (in which the fan locks in at 2500 rpm at all times) and turbo (in which it at least changes but is always running kinda fast and the cpu's overclocked).

I used to use performance mode, because it worked fine: it kept the fan off when it didn't need it and turned it on when it did need it. But after an update, I guess, performance mode has become glitched and only keeps the fan at high speed at all times. Anyone else having this issue? Any possible fix?

I believe it to be a software problem, but I don't know how to solve it.

I recently installed a new motherboard (Z690 with Wifi), a new Core (I7-12700K) and a new heatsink ( LIANLI GALAHAD 360 BLACK AIO 17). I've noticed that when I play games my fans just go absolutely crazy, even though my heat isn't getting all that high. It's not like they're constantly running, but they do turn on at full blast for a few seconds and then go back to silent for a few seconds, and then repeat. It's super loud and really annoying. I would love if they had a smoother curve like pictured below.

Am I doing something wrong, is there some way I need to "commit" these settings in order to get them to work? I'm at a loss.
