February 4, 2020 - Don't try to power the screen with a Raspberry Pi. Overloading the Pi's USB port will cause it to reboot. You will have to plug the screen into a high-power usb hub. But you will likely have better results if you got a proper power supply from ASUS themselves.

Hi AGuy, As I was casually reading your post, I actually thought it was mine! If you check this post I've created about a month ago ( https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUS/comments/gihyzo/zenscreen_mb16amt_touchscreen_on_macos/ ), I was mentioning exactly the same things but didn't get any replies. I'm afraid to say that I think this is something that might not be able to be "fixed", as the Mac seems to recognize the device as an "Ink Tablet" (check the new icon that appears in System Settings when you plug the monitor), thus I imagine it processes the touches there as if you were drawing on a tablet; hence moving/clicking the mouse wherever it happens to be. As well, I think that Mac doesn't support touch screen gestures, so no scrolling, zooming, etc. would be possible neither, as it's plainly seeing the monitor as an ink tablet. With all these said, I think that we might have as well bought the monitor without touch, as it's completely useless currently. The only touchscreen device that quite works is an iPad though Duet or Sidecar (if you are on Catalina), but the experience is not as seamless as a true external monitor and I don't want my tablet burning on 24/7 its screen alongside my laptop. Hopefully someone could chime in with a potential solution, but I seriously doubt it. Best. More on reddit.com

I recently picked up an MB16AMT as an additional monitor for my MacBook Pro, knowing that there were limitations with using the touchscreen along with a Mac (compared to a PC).
Thus far, I have noticed two main issues (and I believe both are known/identified), and am wondering if anyone has any update/workaround on these, or knows if they are being planned for a future software/firmware/driver update?
No MultiTouch support (touching the screen only moves the mouse curser, but does not handle MultiTouch gestures or aspects such as scrolling)
Using the touchscreen, when the display is not the active display, acts as a mouse cursor on the Active Display. Thus, if I'm in another application on my primary display, and do not first move the mouse cursor over to the application on the MB16AMT and click the application to move the active display to the MB16AMT, and taps on the MB16AMT are registered as mouse clicks on the primary display (not the MB16AMT)
I'm open to any/all thoughts, and full well understand that these limitations had been identified before purchasing.

Yep you’re both correct. FYI got a response from ASUS and they are saying it was working for Mac OS 10.14 not 10.15. So sounds like if you want to boot up an older version, that could be an option? Full response was: Thank you for contacting ASUS online support. After reviewing your email I understand that the touchscreen isn't working when connected to you MAC. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue, I would be happy to further assist. Please to see the following: You would need to download ASUS ZenScreen Touch App first. Device must support Host Storage mode and HID multi-touch function. It's single point touch support only. For Mac OS 10.15 users, please be noted that you will need to update the latest monitor firmware to activate the touch function. Originally ASUS MB16AMT supports touch function on MAC OS version 10.14 and is displayed normally. But when the customer upgrades MAC OS to version 10.15, multi touch signal will be blocked that causes the touch function is invalid but display function is still working. Therefore, ASUS is discussing with IC vendor to find solution for the issue caused by the Apple. We hope that the signal block issue will be solved as soon as possible. ASUS provides firmware “MB16AMT_touchFW_vT3” to solve this problem for MAC OS version 10.15.
