ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi II - Wifi Issues
Hey! Same motherboard, Same issues and Same culprit. The wireless onboard is complete garbage. When it works it seems fine but when it becomes temperamental you basically have to pray to the gods for a fix. I did read somewhere that if you access the card via device manager and change it so that you're forcing it onto the older protocols and telling it not to use any of the new WiFi featuresets then it will work without issue. I did this a few weeks ago and sure enough it worked flawlessly, last few nights I've been having the same issues again, I assume somethings patched or updated and I need to change it back. Most of the time pings will be fine, then a spike, then a dropped packet and then quickly back to normal, repeat every 10 seconds or less for the entire night. Customer reviews for Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WIFI II Desktop Motherboard | Walmart.com
Motherboard really brought my new build to a good place, love the built in wifi and the amount of sata and m2 slots is perfect for being able to expand as needed. ... Bought this as wanted to build an upgrade gaming pc, can't fault it, quality bit of kit and is compatible with the latest OS, handles OC well and a very good looking board perfect for open view build ... I had a strix z270f for years and it never disappointed me so it was an obvious choice that when it was time for an upgrade I would go for the strix line and wow does it pack some great features.

r/ASUS on Reddit: ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi II - Wifi Issues
February 8, 2023 -

Making this post since I couldn't find any solid info on whether this is an issue with the board itself, or if I just got unlucky. I figure worst case this can be a place for other users to share their experience so that if other people do have this issue, there will be something to find.

I bought the board to upgrade (pretty much a rebuild really) my PC over the holidays. Built everything (Ryzen 7 5800X + Sapphire Nitro 6750XT) and it was working great for about a week or two. Then I had terribly inconsistent ping spikes and latency issues in games like Rocket League, R6 Siege, and LoL. I say inconsistent, but it seemed like the first hour or two of gaming was relatively smooth, and then the issue would start slowly at first, while progressively getting much worse to the point where whatever game was borderline unplayable. Streaming YouTube and Netflix was perfectly fine, and I was getting pretty much exactly the download speeds my ISP advertises for my plan. It was just latency and ping during online games that I had an issue.

I'm making this post now because I spent all of January troubleshooting and testing to see if the issue would stop. I tried drivers, Windows settings, reinstalling Windows entirely, messing around with router settings, pretty much everything I can think of. My old mobo (ASRock Z270 Killer SLI/ac) didn't have this issue. By chance I actually got a new WiFi 6 router around mid January, and I hoped that it would fix the issue. While I did get better download speeds and signal strength, the issue came back after a week or two with the same exact symptoms.

All of this troubleshooting, along with the change in both mobo and router, made me believe it was an issue with the on board WiFi, so I finally bought a PCI-e WiFi card on Amazon. This finally fixed my issue, so I'm pretty confident the issue was with the on board WiFi itself or the physical antenna. The only thing I can't tell from my own experience is if this is normal for this board, or if I just got a problematic one. Regardless, hopefully others who use this board will comment about their experiences with WiFi during gaming, so that other people can have a reference if they go looking.

I just bought this board myself, and after reading your comment, I decided to go digging on the matter. Turns out, you did me a solid. Usually Asus uses intel chipset for their wifi modules, this time they used a mediatek MT7921K, which is a notorious piece of crap. Glad I didnt mount it yet. Had they used the ax210, you would had had no issue at all.

ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming II WiFi Review - OC3D
October 12, 2023 - We’re not saying it’s a parts bin special, but there isn’t much to differentiate the Strix II from the other ROG X570 motherboards, beyond that glitched logo which we still hate. The lower half is similarly familiar. We didn’t realise how used we had got to the 3 or 4 M.2 slots on the very latest PCBs until we saw the Strix and remembered that X570 motherboards largely come with just the two. Starting off at the top left with the 8+4 12V CPU power inputs. Unlike other ASUS motherboards we’ve looked at recently they haven’t squeezed a fan header into this part of the PCB.
