The CPU will not run any slower, that's complete nonsense. Both Z690 and Z790 will give the CPU as much power as it can take without going over its thermal limit. The only real difference between 690 and 790 is that 790 officially supports slightly higher RAM speeds. However people have been OCing past 10,000 MHz on Z690 without any issue so the likelihood you'll run into any problems with RAM are pretty damn low. As the title suggests which motherboard is better? I’ve heard mixed reviews that I should go with Z790 because the Z690 with 13th Gen Intel CPU requires BIOS, runs slower, etc. on the Z690. Is this true? I thought there was no performance difference between the two.
