Just out of curiosity. I’m not about to make a purchase decision or anything, but if ANC were not a consideration, what Bluetooth headphones would have the best audio quality? “Best” can be evaluated as “best value for money” or “best of the best if money is not a problem” or whatever y’all think sounds great. Thanks!
Is the statement true?
I discovered this opinion while researching what kind of headphones are best for a pure listening experience. Of the three main headphone categories, (Studio, consumer, and gamer headphones) most people during my research suggest a studio quality headphone even for gaming. Which, to further back up the statement, are usually wired most of the time with 2 wires from both cans even. Most likely because you just simply can't get the quality of sound from Bluetooth technology that you can get being wired in.
What are your thoughts and can you discuss facts and the science behind it? Looking forward to reading what people will say
Edit: Thanks for the comments, I have a lot to read and you're all so educated and informative I really appreciate your time!
It doesn't have to be extremely high-end, but something on the level of let's say a Sennheiser HD 598. Are there any wireless options on the market that are this quality (or higher)?
And in general, what are the opinons on the Sennheiser RS 175-U? How does it stack up among their wired lineup?
Please wireless I know it's not the best but I need to be able to walk around my budget is up to 150 closed back preferably I'll take any suggestions been ripping my hair out every headphones have some kind of issue I currently have a blackshark v2 pro and wanna get my first quality headphones it'll be used for gaming and occasionally music and any good songs you use to test ur head sets when you get a new set
I have a pair of HD600s that I like a lot but my cat keeps chewing up the cable. I'm sick of buying them but I don't really like the feel and sound quality of bluetooth gaming headphones. Are there any wireless audiophile options, preferably something with the option to use a cable once the batteries eventually can't hold a charge.
Location Fort Worth/Dallas
Budget preferably around 300 dollars, we can go above but id just have to save and sell the HD600s and the DAC I have.
I know you aren't going to get the best quality sound out of wireless headphones but I really hate having the wire so whats the best quality sound for listening to music from wireless closed back headphones?
Hi! I'm looking for a pair of wireless headphones for $900 or less and sound quality is my number one priority in my purchasing choice. I would like to purchase wired headphones but I figured that a wire would be too inconvenient as my main means of listening to music is on my phone while commuting via the train. I'm looking for a good pair of wireless headphones that hold up to scrutiny by an audiophile audience if such a pair exists. I'm well aware that Bluetooth headphones compress music as well as generally tend to have a "tinny" sound to them so my main priority is looking for a pair of headphones that minimize that. Thank you! :)

I think currently the Focal bathys are still the best wireless headphones sound wise.
I'm looking for something to buy that's wireless, and to get for my broken xm3s.
I'm wanting a closed back solution.
I'm looking for the best earbuds. I own the sony XM5s and want better but can't get a clear answer. I don't care about ANC, I heavily care about how good the treble sound, and my price range is $500. I am not going to buy 8 pairs of buds to see which sound the best to me. I've been recommend the AZ80s and Gemini 2s by people who aren't audiophiles. A few places I looked said to get Final's 8000 2s, but said the treble is lacking, which I have an issue with.
I've asked multiple places, mainly 30 different Google prompts, 10-20 review sites that all claim that X brand is the best, then say that about 5 other brands, and then list some name brand flagship on whatever top 10 list they have which they themselves said were inferior audio wise, and I've looked on YouTube to find that all of those guys only test name brands and claim those to be the best while ignoring a vast majority of great earbuds. I also went on an other sub reddit to find people who only recommended the crowd favorite (the Gemini 2s). At this point, I'm very hesitant and want to steer away from what most people would buy.
I want the best sounding earbuds, and at this point, I don't care about any other feature. I know there isn't one answer and I know everything in this industry is subjective, but I want a solid recommendation before I spend half a grand on something. I'm leaning towards Final's 8000 2s, but am willing to hear any recommendations, even if it is for the gemini 2s!
Hey everyone! I’m currently using the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT, but I’m looking to upgrade to something with superior audio quality and comfort, preferably wireless (headset or earphones). I want to dive deeper into the audiophile world, so I'm open to any high-end recommendations within my budget.
Budget and Location:
I have a budget of up to $1000. I’m located in the US, so I have access to a wide range of online shops like Amazon, Best Buy, and Audiophile-specific stores like Headphones.com and B&H. I’m also open to recommendations for international shops if they offer better options or deals.
Preferred Tonal Balance:
I’m looking for a well-balanced and accurate sound profile, something versatile enough for a wide range of genres and gaming environments. I’m not necessarily a bass-head but do appreciate a solid, punchy low end. What I’m most interested in is a wide soundstage and crystal-clear mids and highs. I love sparkly treble that isn’t fatiguing and provides a lot of detail and immersion.
Usage:
I’ll primarily be using these at home for gaming and music listening. I enjoy immersive experiences in games like Star Citizen, Squad, and Escape from Tarkov, which have incredible audio design and realistic soundscapes. Music-wise, I listen to a variety of genres, from classical to rock to EDM, so versatility is important. Comfort is also key, as I often use my headphones for long sessions (3-5 hours at a time).
Past Gear Experience:
I’ve enjoyed my Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT for its convenience and decent all-around performance, but I find the soundstage a bit narrow, and the clarity could be improved, especially in the mids and highs. I also notice some fatigue during extended gaming sessions. I’m looking for an upgrade that can offer a true audiophile experience while still being wireless and comfortable for extended use.
Any suggestions that meet these criteria would be greatly appreciated!
I know nothing can beat wired headphone but I have seen a few people recommending the Audeze Maxwell and the Hifiman Deva how do they compare to wired and which one is better or is there a better wireless headphone for about 300 to 400 USD
I've seen aptX Lossless boast it's audiophile sound and I've seen folks claim the Sennheiser Momentum 4s having audiophile sound and I want to know if it's just a term loosely thrown around or if it's actually possible to be a wireless audiophile. I'd love to be able to have the audiophile sound from my home setup to be able to be carried with me around work/school, so if this is possible can somebody tell me the best equipment to go about it? I'm currently thinking of going with the Fiio BT11 dongle because my phone doesn't support aptXLossless and I'm thinking of buying Sonos Ace because they're mainly the only over-ears I'm seeing with aptXLossless and Spatial Audio support.
Hello everyone,
First, sorry for my approximative English since I'm a non native speaker.
I am very new to the audiophile world, and it's complicated for me to find any informations since when you search something on google that can be buyable the results are 90-99% scam website with affiliate links or robots generated pages...
Despite I am new, I know there is differents dogma in the audiophile community, and one of them is that wireless is NOT really audiophile/HIRES, and also that earbuds doesn't compete with headphone. But I don't know if it's true or not.
But, in the workplace, I would like to use wireless earbuds for convenience reasons (discretion, being able to only have one buds without having the other one hanging around, and also for when I am walking). Headphone is for home.
I would like to buy an audiophile music player soon, because smartphone is not really good playing hifi/hires musics, and because I want to decorelate and decentralize my numeric stuff. Its also complicated for me to find a good music player that doesn't cost one or two month salary with all that fake reviews and "best list", but maybe it will be another topic later. But I will use it mostly with wireless earbuds.
SO my question is :
Is there any audiophile (hifi/hires) compatible (or best rendering at least) wireless earbuds ? Or should I just go nobrain for Bose sport earbuds with my smartphone, because no wireless earbuds (or maybe no earbuds at all) is able to render hifi/hires sound properly ?
Thanks you in advance for your help.
I’m looking to get some over ear headphones. Prioritizing sound quality over all else. Closed back so my family and coworkers don’t get bothered but my listening. But all things being equal, it would be nicer to have wireless over wired. Looking in the 100-150 price range. Mostly listen to metal. I see the Sony 7506 often listed as an excellent wired option and it seems to be in the 80-90$ range. Is there really a significant drop off if going to some of the wireless options in the 100-150 price range?
Thanks!
I want a headphone that is wireless that is approved by the almighty audiophile gods. I will use them only at my desk watching shows, YouTube, music, and non competitive gaming. I don't care if there's a headphone on them I don't care if I need a dac, base station, receiver whatever as long as the headphone itself is wireless. Obviously not an unlimited budget but I want some really crispy high quality headphones with amazing sound that don't have wires.
Wired headphones hold a significant advantage over their wireless counterparts, primarily in sound quality and reliability. By using an analog signal, they can transmit uncompressed audio data, leading to superior fidelity. This is a crucial distinction for audiophiles, musicians, and gamers who prioritize pure, uncolored sound. Another key benefit is the lack of latency. The direct connection eliminates the delay between the audio source and what you hear, a critical factor for competitive gaming and video editing. Additionally, wired headphones don't rely on a battery, offering unlimited playtime without the worry of running out of charge. They are generally more affordable and often more durable, as they don't have a battery that can degrade over time. While wireless headphones offer convenience, wired ones remain the go-to choice for those who value performance, consistency, and a hassle-free listening experience. And especially when the earplugs get cut off when touched mistakenly by hand
I mean like the hifiman's, Gemini 2s, and bower & wilkins vs the sony's xm5, bose qc's, airpods etc
I ask because majority of the time people recommend the xm5's, mtw4's, az80's as best best earbuds in the market right now. But then the occasional audiophile people recommend some niche brand and super expensive earbuds which not a lot know and own of.
So why aren't the "audiophile" earbuds not recommend enough? Is it because they focus on sound quality primarily and lack the rest of the qualities? Because of impractically high price? Or just because they're too niche to even know of?
P.S im not an audiophile and definitely new to this earbuds stuff, so im sorry in advance if I said anything wrong
My Sennheiser Momentum M2 had died recently after serving me for 7 years. They were my first audiophile pair and I was in love with everything about them. Sound, build quality with metal and leather and how it makes them look. Don't have much to compare in terms of comfort but I only had some problems after wearing them for 8+ hours.
I'm looking for closed-back ones with not much preferences besides that. I appreciate ANC but the one M2s had was fine for me. I listen from my phone and my laptop both wireless and wired when it's more convenient. I enjoy a wide variety of music and genres like metal, jazz, rap and electronic music. I think I'm looking for a more neutral profile although I'm not sure.
After looking for some time I'm inclined to go for Sennheiser Momentum M3. M4 just doesn't seem to be a sizeable upgrade. I also looked at Sony WH1000-XM5. It seems that they're similar to M3 with better ANC but (subjectively) worse look.
Any other models I should look at?
Hey! I am gathering research for my next pair of quality headphones. I have always been super rough with my headphones in the past so I thought wireless would be a solution. My first wireless headphone was the Airpods Max and the battery blew after 2 years. I probably overcharged them :( I also hate them. They are uncomfortable and I'd prefer more noise cancellation, even with battery replacement options I'd rather not use them in the future.
A lot of lovely people told me their favorite wireless headphones and earbuds. The airpods have been great for me so I think I'm good on earbuds. Based on the comments and the fact I need to become wayyyyy more frugal I am thinking I should try wired again. The last pair of wired headphones I had were the Sony MDR-7506 I really liked them but I ruined the cord and blew the left speaker out within a year. I don't remember if they had replaceable cords or not.
What are the best wired headphones ideally with replaceable cords? Do you have any tips for a super fidgety person such as myself for how to not ruin cords? With my sony's I had a special case and usually wraped the cord after each use. I also tend to rest my head on my pillow pressing the headphones which might cause the speaker to fry? Thanks!
So in this sub there's been a lot of talked that wired beats wireless in most cases; that bluetooth just doesn't have the bit rate for CD quality. All that makes sense of how you listen but no one has answered if there's an actual difference in headphone quality between a wireless headphone that also have aux port for wired and a headphone that is only wired.
Is there a different in quality between listening wired between a wireless headphone and wired-only headphone?
