We are redoing our little kitchen, an 8 ft long galley (entrance at one end, pantry doors at the other end) with 41" of aisle between each side of the standard-size cabinetry. I will just replace the upper cabinet setup, but want to maximize the efficiency of the bottom cabs, which are presently all 1 shallow top drawer and open space below.
Currently on the left walking in, there are two 24" cabinet bases, then the range, then one 15" base. On the right walking in comes the fridge, the dishwasher, the sink with a 30" open cabinet below (currently housing trash and recycling), and then a wee 9" wide cabinet.
I've looked at 24" base cabinets with two doors that open to adjustable height pullout shelves, but would it be annoying to have to open both doors in order to access what are effectively drawers? It seems better to just have both 24" boxes be drawers, no? Should it be two deep ones, three increasingly deeper drawers, or one silverware drawer + two equal depth drawers?
For the 9" cabinet, I think we do (rollout?) vertical storage for cutting boards and cookie sheets? OR a base organizer like this?
For the 15" cabinet...more drawers?! Maybe 3-4 shallow ones?
With thanks!
