I think this is the wrong sub as a TV at ANY price would be far from BIFL... Also, a TV at sub-$200 is going to be bare bones bottom of the barrel quality, so even further from BIFL quality. I'd just look over reviews and ratings at https://www.rtings.com/ and try to find one that fits your budget.

So in that price range pretty much all TV's are of about the same picture and audio quality and have about the same longevity, and none will be BIFL. I would look for one with the features you want outside of just picture and audio. Look at # and variety of ports (HDMI, etc) and Aldo look for one that doesn't force you to connect to the Internet to function. Outside of that, look at major brand names like LG, Samsung, etc. TCL and Vizio are fine too, just be careful of their internet apps as they've been known to monitor your viewing history and do some other nefarious things.

You’ll have to up the budget a little for anything worth buying IMO. You can get a 50” TCL 5 Series right now for $380, which is as good as you’ll do bang-for-buck for budget TVs. Like another commenter mentioned, you could wait for a sale on this. I guess you could get a 43” TCL 4 Series for $250, but that’s really not a great TV. I had it for a few years and the uniformity/dark cloudiness, lack of brightness, and crashes were issues.
