Hi Team,
Hoping someone could recommend me a great upscaler that is better than PS SuperZoom.
I tried gigapixel AI but it had issues with the AI art I am generating, thinking of trying pixelcut but hoping someone can recommend some really good alternatives?
I'm working on a project where I need to have images at a minimum of 72 dpi approximately 8 feet or so wide. The images I'm working with are around 30" wide at 72 dpi. These will be window graphics right on a sidewalk so viewing distance is probably 2-4 feet, so hiding low resolution with distance isn't an option.
I've heard of Topaz's upscaling features but wondered what other options are out there and what everyone thinks of them.

I used Topaz before and it works really well, but my needs have dropped a lot recently so I don’t feel like paying for it anymore.
I mostly upscale e-commerce images and some web stuff, occasionally photos with faces. Just need something that looks clean, doesn’t have to be perfect.
So far I’ve been testing a few:
Zoviz Image Upscaler → pretty solid for product photos and faces, results look sharp without that “AI plastic” effect. Runs right in the browser too, which is convenient.
Upscayl → free and open-source, does a decent job for natural textures.
Nero AI Image Upscaler → nice balance of detail, and has some free options online.
Haven’t fully replaced Topaz yet, but for lighter use these three have been working well enough.
Let me know if you have used any of these or have more suggestions?
Hey everyone,
I've seen a lot of posts lately asking about the best AI upscalers to avoid pixelation and low resolution when printing small images. So, I thought I'd share my top picks:
Topaz Gigapixel AI – A popular choice for its excellent detail recovery.
Let's Enhance – Great for quick, web-based upscaling with minimal fuss.
Waifu2x – A solid option for both images and artwork with impressive results.
HooksAI (Beta) – And here’s the kicker: HooksAI does everything the others do – and more. It's integrated directly into your printing software, so you don't have to juggle between an upscaling program and your print workflow. And not only does it upscale, but it also ensures that your colors, cut lines, and overall output are spot on, making your prints perfect every time.
What other upscalers have you tried? Drop your recommendations and experiences below. Let's build the ultimate list together!
Cheers,
What is best image upscaler you have used so far? (For photography type images)
Hey everyone,
I’ve been testing a few AI image upscalers on some old photos and digital artwork, trying to see which ones give the best results. Here’s what I found after running 50–60 images through each tool:
Aiarty Image Enhancer – Really impressed me. Upscaled 1080p images to 4K in about 1–2 minutes per image. Denoising and deblurring are consistent, and details like hair, eyes, and textures come out very natural. Faces especially look much cleaner than other tools I tried.
Topaz Gigapixel AI – Quick and reliable. Processing the same 1080p images took roughly 3 minutes each. Preserves overall textures well, though I noticed some slight smoothing on very fine details.
Real-ESRGAN – Free and open-source. Took longer to set up and process (~4–5 minutes per image), but for simpler images it performed surprisingly well. Complex textures sometimes got a bit smudged.
I’ve been comparing results side by side, and it’s interesting how each tool has its strengths.
Has anyone else tried other AI upscalers that deliver comparable results? Would love to hear your recommendations!
I am looking for an AI image enhancer/upscaler, I can't test each of them since the creation of an account is a pain in the ass. I would like to know your opinion for someone who has tried a lot of them or sub'd on a particular AI image enhancer.

The ones I found are Blurrylemon, Cutout and Picstart. Any other recommendations?
I'm using Playground-v2.5-aesthetic to make some images for YouTube thumbnails. I'm really happy with the results:
1024x1024 base image of mars base. But I would like the image to be 1920x1080 pixels, and my only options are 1024x1024, or 1280x720 pixels. At the moment, I can get to 1920x1080 with Photoshop's outpainting:
1920x1080 outpainted image of mars base. This is okay, but photoshops outpainting is manual and has a fairly significant quality drop. Ideally, I would generate an image in 1280x720 then upscale to 1920x1080 programmatically.
I've heard of the following models:
Real-ERSGAN
Waifu2
SRGAN
But before I jump into any of them, what open-source model is generally considered best to achieve this? I have an RTX 3060 12GB of VRAM.
What's the best image upscaler available right now for different use cases?
I have some AI-generated comic-style images and hyperrealistic photos that need 2–3x upscaling. What tools or models have given you the best results for both styles?
looking for a free and good one.
I’m looking for software that uses AI to upscale images without losing quality. I’ve heard of a few different tools out there but haven’t settled on one. I’d appreciate any recommendations for AI software that can both increase resolution and improve image quality—preferably something easy to use.
One of the biggest hurdles I keep running into with AI image generation (Stable Diffusion, Flux, Nano Banana / Gemini Flash, etc.) is upscaling without losing accuracy.
Often, when upscaling, the image starts to change, details shift, faces morph, or the whole thing feels like a new render rather than just a higher-res version. I’ve spent a lot of time tweaking settings (low denoise, etc.) and tried different workflows: Super SD, Ultimate SD Upscaler, ESRGAN variants, and a few other well-known open- and closed-source options. None of them really preserve the original image exactly as-is.
Lately, I’ve even resorted to Photoshop’s built-in “Image Size” enlargement. It doesn’t keep things super crisp, but at least it doesn’t alter the photo beyond recognition. For me this is specifically about photography-style images and portraits (not graphics or digital art), so accuracy matters a lot more than stylisation.
Nano Banana has been blowing me away with its consistency and quality, but even then, I still hit the same wall: a lack of a truly reliable upscaler that just resizes without changing the character of the image.
So my question to the community is simple: what’s the most accurate upscaler you’ve found? And do you have any tips or tricks to get the best results? I’d love to learn what techniques people use alongside their chosen upscalers to keep things faithful to the original?
because most of them that already exist are about like this:
you have to navigate through 5 different extremly slow loading pages to sign up (so that they can spam your email). Once you finally submitted your image to be upscaled, they will ask you to pay monthly to download the image. and many do not even support large images.
So I created this free alternative. It is slow because it is free. But the results are great! And you do not need to sign up, no hidden newsletter & no subscriptions.
I launched it today on producthunt - it would be nice if you leave a review & upvote if you like it: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/free-ai-image-upscaling
I’ve been doing a lot of printing work lately and realized how much difference image enhancement makes, especially when dealing with older or low-resolution files. So I tested a few AI upscalers/enhancers to see which ones actually deliver print-ready results. Here’s what I found:
Aiarty Image Enhancer – My current favorite. It keeps textures clean and natural, especially on portraits and illustrations. I like that it doesn’t over-sharpen or add weird artifacts, which makes it great for print use. Also supports batch processing, which saves me tons of time.
Topaz Gigapixel AI – Still one of the most powerful for extreme upscaling, though a bit heavy on system resources. Works great when you need 4× or 6× enlargement.
Nero AI Image Upscaler – Simple and quick to use. It does a decent job for casual image improvement or small prints. Not as strong on fine details, but it’s accessible and lightweight.
Real-ESRGAN – Open-source option that performs surprisingly well if you don’t mind a bit of setup.
If you’re prepping images for printing - posters, art prints, or photo books - these tools can really help bring back detail and clarity. Curious what others here use for upscaling or enhancement before printing? Always open to trying new options.
I'm currently using ai.nero.com/image-upscaler and i'm very satisfied with their Professional upscaler option, but you have to create an account and purchase a monthly subscription.
Are there any AI Image Upscaler software for your Windows desktop that actually does a good job that i can use instead? The simpler the better, i'm too dumb for Command Prompt-coding software.
One I came across is https://www.upscale.media/ which is pretty good but are there any others worth using?
