For some reason I always find black friday deals better then boxing day. Another side note is that all the good deals aren't even on boxing day, usually a couple days before. Answer from calamityox on reddit.com

Happy Boxing Day everyone!

For those who don't know me I run JB Buddy, a free price comparison service for electronics at Aussie retailers. My point of difference is this is a community project launched on Reddit and I only compare Aussie stock meaning you can price match at your retailer of choice.

The site works as a search engine for an exact model number or SKU number from JB Hi-Fi

The main website compares real-time prices of TV's, Laptops, Phones, Tablets, Headphones, Soundbars, Wearables, Game Consoles, VR and Vacuums (with more coming).

However, I'm currently experimenting with a product picker so if you or a family member is looking to get a TV, Laptop or Phone today you can use https://jbbuddy.com/pick/ instead of manually searching the model number. For everything else the main site has you covered.

The homepage also has a price jumps table so you can see all the mark-ups on products and actual sales.

And most products you search will have a price history chart so you can see if the Boxing Day "sale" is a real sale or not.

Lately? It has disappeared about 10 years ago lol. I once wanted to buy 2 shirts from the bay. It was 39.99 about a week before boxing day. I was like, I'll just wait for boxing day. Waited for said day. Now it's 80 dollars but with a 50% off tag on it. Fuckin crazy. Aside from electronics, everything else is a scam. If something is on sale, it's usually overstock that people dont want.

I spent some time working in retail as both a buyer and a promotions manager, and I can say two things. First, is that one reason the sales aren't as good is because retailers have been pushing more towards "micro events" throughout the year to bolster their sales. If you're looking to buy a new 20v drill, the price at Father's Day is going to be just as good as Black Friday.  This isn't because the BF price is worse - it's because the FD price is better. Basically, retailers are regularly throughout the year driving prices on key items down to zero margin.  Retailers are loathe to sell anything at truly negative margin, so there's nothing left for them to do at Black Friday except pull out tricks like selling a lower-spec item or faking the regular price for a "deeper discount". The second is Foreign Exchange.  As our dollar gets weaker and weaker, all of the stuff we buy from China (typically in USD) gets more expensive. A retailer who sold an item as $99.99 last year for zero margin now has a few options simply due to FX.  Sell at a loss (not going to happen), sell a cheaper version (often happens), bump your price all the way to $119.99 because $109.99 is an ugly price point customers don't like (often happens).

Boxing Day Sale 2025-2026 Non-NA Megathread

Boxing Day Sale 2025-2026 Rant Megathread

'Twas the night before Boxing Day, when all through r/LushCosmetics

Not a creature was stirring, not even a scrubee;

The knot wraps were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that beautiful gift boxes soon would be there;

The lushies were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of snow fairies danced in their heads;

And the moderators in their fresh face masks,

Had just settled down for a long winter's bath,

...

Hello all of you lovely Lushies!

Warmest holiday wishes and good tidings to you all from your moderator team here at r/lushcosmetics.

We are just around the corner from every Lush fans favourite day of the year- Boxing Day! We have created this Boxing Day megathread for all news, rumours, questions, tips and stories regarding the possible boxing day sale!

When/If the Boxing Day Sale happens, we are not restricting PHYSICAL haul posts to be included in this mega thread. We do ask that when you make boxing day haul posts to please use the 'Boxing Day Sale' post flair, as well as include a comment on your post with additional information about your boxing day sale purchase or experience. For example, how early did you get there? Or which of these are a new purchase for you? What are you sad was not in stock? Any surprise items included in your store's sale,etc.

We also ask that you wait until your haul actually arrives before sharing as a new post, with screenshots of your order/cart to be kept within the megathread. Thank you for your help with this team; it really helps us keep the sub tidy during our busiest time.

What is the Lush Boxing Day Sale?

In years past, Lush has held a Boxing Day Sale, on- you guessed, Boxing Day- December 26th. The sale has been held both in-store and online. This was typically the only time of year that Lush has a sale (the freshness sale was the first non-boxing day sale many of us have seen!), so it is quite a big deal to lovers of all things Christmas Pud and Snow Fairy and good smelling. Every year sale details vary from country to country. (Some countries are in-store only, others online, or some not at all.) The sale is for Halloween and Christmas line products only, although discontinued and end-of-freshness date products have are sometimes included. Products on sale are offered as either half-price or Buy One, Get One Free (the cheaper of the two products being discounted.) Some stores will also include products that are possibly being discontinued or are close to expiration/manufactured before a certain date but this is not guaranteed and will vary from shop to shop.

Happy holidays to everyone, and happy (potential) Boxing Day Sale hunting!

I’m a little stuck between wanting to get more into anti-consumption and anti-capitalism, but also at the same time being VERY broke and never getting to buy myself anything nice. Are there any genuinely good deals to look out for as a little treat to myself? I’m trying to toe the line and not buy anything unnecessary while also seizing the moment to get myself a late Christmas present without spending a crazy amount :) I’m in the UK, if that makes any difference!
