What Is The Best Material For A Cooling Comforter?
There is no one best material for a cooling comforter, but there are a few that stand out as being the most desirable. Lightweight comforters made using down, silk, lyocell, bamboo viscose and cotton percale are all good choices. “Linen and cotton fabrics are more breathable and allow for a cooling effect, which is better if you run warm,” Dr. Abbasi-Feinberg says.

Is My Comforter Causing Night Sweats?
If the comforter you currently sleep with feels heavy or is especially thick, it could be contributing to night sweats. To determine if your comforter is the culprit, try sleeping without it for a few nights to see if your night sweats subside.

The Best Cooling Comforters for More Comfortable Nights
August 8, 2025 - While down is known for its ability to trap warmth, wool stands out for its natural temperature-regulating qualities. It uses baffle-box construction and has convenient corner loops, which help keep it in place in a duvet cover. Plus, it's machine washable! TESTING NOTES: One tester loved its cooling effects, saying, "I am a hot sleeper but the comforter never felt too hot and my husband is a cool sleeper and was comfortable all night."

Senior digital design editor Zoë Sessums uses this bedding in her home and has “no hesitation” recommending it for anyone’s bedscape. It’s made of responsibly sourced down with 650 fill power for an airy bed cover. Aside from the “ultra-warm” option that’s great when winter rolls around, the lightweight and all-season versions are perfect for hot sleepers.

r/Bedding on Reddit: Comforter Recommendations for Hot Sleeper?
September 29, 2024 -
Hiya! Wondering if anyone can recommend a good comforter for my partner and I? We originally loved the feel of the MUJI comforter but they haven’t restocked their comforters in weeks and we can find anywhere to buy one. We are looking for something very soft that also works well for my partner who is a very hot sleeper! Any recommendations will be very appreciated! :))

I was also sleeping hot and made some significant changes to my bed. I love my memory mattress just for the comfort. So, I bought a wool mattress topper, cotton percale sheets, a silk duvet and use either a cotton or cotton/linen duvet cover. We also have a wool duvet that my husband seems to like more than the silk but doesn’t really care. I truly believe that using natural instead of synthetic materials has made a huge difference.

r/Bedding on Reddit: Down Comforter for Hot Sleeper
July 4, 2023 -
I’ve tried combing this subreddit to no avail. What is the current thinking on best down comforters for hot sleepers? Just when I think I’m settled on something (most recently it’s the Company Store Lacrosse- Light), I read someone saying that it’s actually quite hot.
Not interested in silk or bamboo, I want down.
Any help would be much appreciated :)

The truth is that if you sleep hot and you don't keep your room temps on the much colder side then even the lightest down fill insert will overheat you. There are die-hard down fans and I can totally respect that and see the appeal, truly. But most of those die-hard down fans don't live in hot climates or they tend to keep their room temps well below 74F. Down and wool are insulating materials first and foremost, so anyone claiming that they can cool you down is fudging the facts greatly. At best wool is moisture wicking so it will keep your temps in a sort of 'neutral-zone' but it won't cool you down. Down is worse in the sense that it doesn't even wick moisture, it just insulates mostly. If you want a cooler option then a mostly feather-filled insert will do better at keeping you cool, but 100% down or a high percentage of down will not do you any favors if you sleep hot. If you absolutely have to have 100% down then getting the lightest fill in ounces that you can get and keeping your room at cooler temps is probably about the best you can do, sorry :(

There’s no magic: down is hot and you want as little of it as possible if you want one that sleeps cooler. Check the fill weights.

December 10, 2024 - Each morning, we woke up still covered, having never kicked it off from getting too hot. The main drawback is the higher cost. But after seeing how cool (but never cold) and comfortable it kept us, we'd definitely pay full price for this comforter.
