Exactly as the title states. Our apartment has a very long staircases, and it is a hassle to lug the vacuum up and down it with a cord that barely reaches the other side you started from by the end.
So I am looking for the vacuum you all would recommend for a handheld/cordless vacuum for stairs, and will get all the dog hair I am tired of seeing. We will continue using our current vacuum for the carpet, so just want something aimed more for the stairs/couches/dog bed.
For price range, I am okay with spending more if there is good reason to, but if the cheaper product is basically as good then it doesn’t make sense to spend more. Hopefully that makes sense.
Edit: Forgot to mention they are carpeted stairs if it matters. Then just in case the mods think my price range isn’t up to snuff, I would say no more than $250, but would prefer to keep it under $150.

August 31, 2025What vacuum do you use on carpeted stairs? I’m tired of balancing my vacuum on each step while using the attachments. One day I’m going to break my neck. Are handheld vacuums with brush rollers any good?
In my experience only upright vacuums have worked, they pick up way more than those tiny handheld ones. The trick tho is getting one that’s light and has a decent hose length so you dont have to bend over. Look at these ones for ref, theyve also got some decent attachments which are really helpful when you clean other areas. Also start vacuuming from the top down and keep a hand free to steady the vacuum. And for the hose issue, get a cheap extension online. More on reddit.com
