For every person you find that say Brand A is great you will find 3 that say it sucks. I can tell you my experiences but that is not definitive. Gigabyte: For AM4 and 5 this has been my go to brand and I have not been disappointed. Usually has a decent feature set and value. ASRock: Used to love this brand but with the B450 I had a number of BIOS issues and ASRock support basically told me to get over it. Kind of turned me off to them. Asus: On paper a great looking board but crazy over priced compared to the others most of the time. MSI: This brand has been hit and miss for years. Some boards are amazing and others suck crap. Tend to value wise be there with Gigabyte, not a bad brand, just for me have not even bother to look at them for a while now. Answer from Mopar_63 on reddit.com

r/buildapc on Reddit: Best motherboard brand?
January 23, 2024 -

Trying to get to grips with different components but I do not have the money to buy a bunch of boards and test them. Reviews are very confusing so I'm wondering what the consensus on the best motherboard brand is?

Well, it’s hard to say which brand is the best, but; AsRock, MSI, Gigabyte and Asus are mainstream brands that are available in most regions, and they have high quality boards. Not any one of them is the out and out best brand, but rather they all have the best or second best board at various price points. Myself, I usually go with Asus. Not because it’s always the best, but they have good build quality, beefy VRMs, good RAM compatibility and I am familiar using the BIOS. When I help others configure a build, I usually recommend they get budget friendly MB, and MSI is usually the brand I recommend they get. Basically, you can go with either of these brands at any price points as the quality difference is negligible and it’s more about which features you want.

I don't know that any one brand is the "best," but for a couple of decades, ASUS was my "go to" for motherboards. From everything I read last year when planning my new build, they've been having lots of quality control issues. For the first time ever, I built with MSI. More on forums.anandtech.com

Generally Asus is the main brand, pretty good reliability, features and good overal overclocker but you pay the brand price, it's makes them not the best value. MSI used to be really good, decent price and features but lately their models are not as they used to be, overclock are inconsistent. Gigabyte are really good reliable motherboards.

May 28, 2024 - There is no best. Each vendor has good boards and bad boards. And some good boards can still have problems. That being said I have always preferred MSI boards since I have had good experiences with them. I have several systems that have been running for 10+ years (one is currently 15 years old). November 8, 2025 - You essentially get everything you'd typically need on a desktop motherboard with the addition of a quality VRM that operates at very safe temperatures, even with an overclocked Ryzen 7 processor. MSI hasn't skimped on the VRM components and they haven't skimped on cooling either, providing big heatsinks on both the Vcore and SoC VRM and the heatsinks aren't covered in tacky looking plastic shrouds. Price to performance the MSI B450 Tomahawk is hands down the best value all-rounder available at the moment.
