I’ve have or have had the 5” and 6” 5mm orbit Mirka Deros a , 5” 5mm ceros, a couple ets 125’s , an ets/ec 125 , Rotex 90 and 150 and used a 125, a Bosch devs dual mode and a bunch of other Porter cables and Makitas. I have also used a slew of other sanders including pneumatic da sanders and sheet sanders . I think the ets/ec 125 is the most comfortable and the Mirka Deros right behind them with their only downsides being the fact you have to hold the paddle down and getting parts or repairs in the US is difficult. Rotex series of sanders are great for heavy removal and not bad for fine sanding, but very tiresome for extended sanding sessions. Answer from Solowcarpenter on reddit.com

Which Festool Sander to Buy? We Compare All Models From $249 to $1395 – SERIOUS GRIT
May 5, 2023 - A smaller stroke is better for fine sanding while a larger stroke is better for heavy stock removal. Many Festool models have the stroke in the model name such as the ETS 150/3 (3mm stroke) vs the ETS 150/5 (5mm stroke) ...

May 5, 2023 - The Festool Rotex RO 125 is arguably the best all around sander especially for a woodworker. The RO 125 has a 5 inch or 125 mm sanding disk and only weights 4.4 pounds. The 5 inch sanding pad size is ideal for any project, whether its small ...

r/woodworking on Reddit: Festool random orbital sander worth that much more than others?
October 3, 2018 -

My rule with tools is buy the cheapest tool with the features you need and use that until it breaks once that happens then I'm using it enough to buy a really nice one. My DeWalt palm sander is definitely on it's way out so now I'm thinking a nice ROS but don't want to throw my money on a tool that isn't any better.

Any benefits for festool 574993 vs say the Makita BO5041K for half the price? Any other recommendations?

I'd make an argument for the ETS EC 125/3. Sander and Paper are a little cheaper than the 150. And if you end up getting a Rotex to go with it because you want to hog off more material, the RO 125 is stellar and will take the same paper as your ...

The other reason is to more easily facilitate swapping sanders. For instance, during sanding it would not be uncommon to use two or more types of sanders. With the Plug-it system one just swaps the power and vacuum ends to the desired tool thus eliminating trips all the way back to the power outlet.

r/Tools on Reddit: Are Festool sanders worth the cost?
September 12, 2022 -

Over the past year I have started taking on more refinishing jobs. I primarily go entry gates and teak furniture. I have always used Bosch sanders which I find work best, compared to Dewalt and Milwaukee, for what I do.

I am starting a very detailed/intricate gate that is my most ambitious project yet. I’ve been told that the Festool sanders can cut down sanding time by about %30. With efficiency like that it seems like Festool tools would pay for themselves relatively fast.

So, are they worth it?

Thank you guys for taking the time. I appreciate your input.
