r/Bedding on Reddit: Looking for a Quilt or Blanket for hot sleeper!
December 12, 2023 -

I’ve become very picky about bedding in the last few years but I’m also a very hot sleeper. I’m looking for a lightweight quilt or blanket that is breathable and lightweight but good quality too. I have an organic cotton duvet cover I’m using right now (with no insert) that is basically the thickness of two sheets put together and while it’s lightweight it’s almost not enough blanket but it also looks a mess on the bed. I think the duvet + cover is a bit too much from what I’ve tried in the past. I was looking at a linen quilt but I’ve never used linen and I’m a bit hesitant about it being scratchy. Looking for advice on if linen is the way to go, is it going to be too rough? General brands to check out? Or should I go bamboo or eucalyptus?

Exactly What Every Type of Sleeper Needs in Their Bedding Capsule Ward – Bed Threads
March 6, 2024 - Hot sleepers typically find it challenging to maintain a comfortable sleep environment. The good news is that linen really is perfect for those who get a bit sweaty in bed. With plenty of airflow and moisture wicking capabilites, you won’t find yourself as stifled as you might be from synthetic or heavier sheets. If you find a duvet is too hot for you, a Quilt and/or a Flat Sheet are great as they will act as a lighter alternative, particularly in summer.

Even for a very warm sleeper, I ... a 40° quilt much below freezing unless you're wearing a lot of warm clothing. In my experience, once you get around that freezing mark, even "warm" sleepers are going to want some decent insulation in order to stay warm. But the best way to know for sure is to try it out in a situation when you can easily bail or add more insulation if necessary. ... I am a very warm natured person and get hot very ... Looking for a Quilt or Blanket for hot sleeper!
Look on Amazon or Etsy for a muslin blanket. I have a 6 layer muslin blanket for winter and love it. I don’t get hot or cold with it. They make 4 layers as well which are even lighter. Looks nice on the bed too. More on reddit.com

Best blanket/comforter for hot sleepers?
Do you have a mattress protector on your bed? Is it made of vinyl or shower curtain type material? If so, switch to a natural fiber one (we use the My Green Mattress organic cotton). A synthetic mattress protector will trap heat and make you hotter. We have a Woolino wool duvet insert with a linen duvet cover, organic cotton sheets, and a Faribault Mill wool blanket if we need an extra layer on cooler nights. Our bed is sooo comfy and cozy, not too hot or cold. Natural fibers are key! A set of cotton sheets and a wool blanket should be a good combo. Everyone thinks of wool as a cold/winter fabric but it’s good year round, a chameleon of sorts. More on reddit.com

People also ask

What type of quilt is best for all year round?
A quilt that balances breathability and insulation is generally best for year-round use. While you can always add layers in the winter, a quilt that’s too hot is often unusable in summer. Materials that allow airflow, like wool or cotton, can help prevent overheating during warmer months. As a general rule, the higher the GSM, the warmer the quilt. While summer quilts typically have around 200 GSM, winter quilts usually start around 400 GSM. Sleepers planning to use their quilt throughout the year usually prefer an option at the lower end of the weight range. However, if you live in a cold cli

What is the difference between a quilt and a coverlet?
While coverlets are often called quilts, they are thinner and smaller. Coverlets are a single piece of fabric with no insulating fill, and they usually don’t drape as far as quilts. Because of these traits, coverlets are often used as decorative coverings, while quilts provide warmth as well as style.

Can I wash a quilt?
New quilts can usually be machine-washed, but it’s best to do so infrequently. Many owners wash their quilts once or twice a year. We also suggest brushing off, shaking out, or carefully vacuuming the quilt from time to time, especially before and after storing it. The manufacturer should provide detailed care directions, which are helpful to read before making a purchase.

1 month ago - "The Momcozy comforter was a game-changer during my postpartum period. I dragged it around my house for months, especially during pumping sessions!
