October 27, 2025 - Located in a former auto garage in hipster, industrial Amsterdam Noord, Hotel de Goudfazant occupies a huge warehouse space that gives the restaurant a relaxed, no-frills feel. When I went back there after over a decade, I was pleased to see they still had a poultry and pistachio terrine on the menu – and I still loved it.
I would focus more on cuisines which are not commonly found outside of the Netherlands (besides the origin country). So add some Surinam and Indonesian food to the list. If you go for the famous stroopwafel buy them on a regular street market. A big one should ben 3 euro max. Also a herring is mandatory ofc. What food is Amsterdam famous for?
There's no shortage of snack options in Amsterdam, particularly if you need to soak up a beer or two. Delicious, deep fried beefy bitterballen dipped in mustard are a favourite, along with hot, crisp fries doused in curry sauce and onions.

February 21, 2007 - Our favorite restaurant is Nam Kee, located at Zeedijk 111, just down from the Waag, in the little section of Chinatown. My favorite dish, so far, is Tappen Noodles with Chicken and Vegetables (BTW, Happy New Year!). Husband and I usually eat for €20,00 or less. There is nothing fancy about the place, but the food is good, and lots of it. Enjoy your time in Amsterdam.
