Best cordless vacuum cleaners 2026, expert tried and tested | The Independent
4 days ago - Once it’s fully illuminated blue, you can rest assured that your floors are thoroughly clean, which adds an extra layer of confidence if you have people in your household with allergies. This weighty vacuum gives a deep clean (Joanne Lewsley/The Independent) That said, this vacuum is certainly on the heavier side. The handheld unit alone weighs more than 2kg without any attachments, and, once assembled as a stick vacuum, it weighs a hefty 3.8kg, so it may not be the best option for people with mobility issues or for those who want something very lightweight.

Recommended Cordless vacuum for hardwood floor house
The Dyson V12 is one of my favorite Dyson models due to its lightweight and small build while still being impressively powerful and full of features. I would describe its quality as high enough, as I would not say anything else from comparable brands such as LG and Samsung are any better in build. The Dysons are not perfect, but are at least fairly simple to repair and not all that prone to any specific failure points as long as proper maintenance is performed. The most common thing to make them stop working and come into my local vacuum cleaner shop where I have ties is users washing the filters and installing them when they are still wet. Of course, batteries do not last forever, but Dyson did alter their batteries to be easy to swap and add. The standard V12 comes with both the Fluffy Optic laser hard floor roller and a Motorbar universal head that works for carpet, so it should work completely fine for your rugs. The hard floor rollers of Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners are designed and tested to specifically float lightly and damage-free on hardwood floors, so as long as you are not sucking anything sharp or ridiculous into it with the hard floor roller, it should just dust them nicely. The hard floor roller spins really slowly and should not damage floors any more than a non-spinning hard floor brush moving back and forth. The Motorbar head is less gentle, so I would use the Fluffy Optic head for hardwood and change to the Motorbar head for the rugs. As for the V12 not being suited to be a primary vacuum cleaner, Dyson intends their models from the V10 and higher to be primary units and I have not seen any evidence to sway me in the opposite direction. People said the same garbage about cordless tools, but we all know how that turned out. Both cordless and corded tools can still have their place. I think some people forget that a large chunk of the world's population successfully cleans their floors with a broom or mechanical sweeper, so saying that a modern cordless vacuum cleaner from a reputable company is not able to stand up to the task is flat silly. BEST CORDLESS STICK VAC FOR HARDWOOD FLOORS
I have engineered hardwood. And the v15. The laser fluffy head is amazing. I often wait until after dark and turn off the lights to clean. The reviews I’ve seen of the submarine are mediocre at best so I’m not sure how useful that tool would be. A good vac is worth more than a subpar mop tool thing. Floors shouldn’t get wet too often anyway. But the 15 is great, along with all its other attachments for carpet and hair removal etc. More on reddit.com

r/VacuumCleaners on Reddit: Recommended Cordless vacuum for hardwood floor house
April 5, 2024 -
Looking for a cordless vacuum for our house that is almost all hardwood floors. Some tile in there, and a good amount of rugs. Most important to me is something that won't leave scuff marks on the wood floors, and second that we don't need to switch attachments for the rugs. This will also be our primary vacuum, so something of high quality. Willing to spend what I need to if it's worth it.
Right now I'm leaning towards the dyson v12. It has a hardwood floor attachment, but I don't know if that will work at all on rugs. Is the normal attachment safe for wood? we don't want any micro scratches if possible.
