I also use my computer for gaming Then you'll have to avoid bluetooth. Bluetooth audio = lag. (Bluetooth keyboards and mice don't lag nearly as much as bluetooth audio, but they still lag a lot more than wired, or proprietary 2.4GHz). Some bluetooth audio devices support a "low latency" mode or standards like AptX Adaptive, but even these, under ideal conditions, have 80ms latency due to the inherent latency of Bluetooth audio. If any other of your gaming peripherals had this much latency you would say they're unplayable, and Bluetooth audio shouldn't be given a free pass here. Answer from neon_overload on reddit.com

r/SonyHeadphones on Reddit: Recommendations for a Good Bluetooth Adapter for PC
August 4, 2023 -

Hi I have the WF-1000xm5 headphones and a Windows 10 PC, I don't have BT built in so require a usb BT dongle is there a recommended one for use with the XM5s?

TLDR quicker fix 2025:

You can take a look at creative labs for their BT-W6 BT dongle see here, which covers majority of the aptx family of BT codecs including aptx adaptive (low latency and high) and aptx lossless, but it does not support LDAC. For LDAC you can see below how I fixed it with Maxuni BT + alternative A2DP driver.

Quicker fix in this post here but you can search for a basic BT dongle that works with BT keyboards/mice/headphones etc (not a pure USB sound card) like the Maxuni USB BT 5.3 dongle here

and then get a software called Alternative A2DP Driver, you can run the trial and test if it works with LDAC or whatever BT codec you want with your BT dongle and if it does purchase that A2DP app since you get a discount before the trial runs out.

Old post and info below:

I wish to try LDAC codec via Alternative A2DP Driver for the PC to play back my Flac music collection also so the BT dongle needs to be good and capable of high quality resolution sound playback, not sure if there are better brands or BT dongles though.

Appears no such Bluetooth Adapter with LDAC supports exist for the PC or Laptop or Windows at least in 2023, see here.

There is some discussion of work around's here while using the FiiO BTA30 with an optical input, so your PC/laptop needs a optical sound output either inbuilt or via a soundcard/dongle/dac I guess.

Upon further reading the FiiO BTA30PRO is better supported ie USB to PC and more.

Also mentioned here the Fiio M6 which I believe is a music player can act as a usb dac and transmit LDAC is another possible solution for some users.

Its a confusing situation.......I will read about the FiiO BTA30/Pro

r/HeadphoneAdvice on Reddit: [Accessories] What's the best Bluetooth adapter or antenna for PC?
April 27, 2022 -

I've already got wireless earbuds, a set of Galaxy Buds Pro that I quite like, what I need is a better Bluetooth transmitter for my PC.
The problem I'm looking to solve is lag, or latency I guess, the audio isn't synchronizing with the action on my monitor. I also use my computer for gaming, which means bluetooth connected controllers and such, so a Jack of all trades solution would be preferable.

My motherboard has built in Wifi and Bluetooth 5, so my first thought was just upgrading the antennas that screw into the motherboard.

That said, I don't actually use the Wifi component, so maybe a dedicated Bluetooth adapter would be a better solution.

If there's a better place to ask this question feel free to let me know, maybe this would be more in r/buildapc's wheelhouse.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

The best Bluetooth adapter for PC is the $130 FiiO BTA30 Pro. It has LDAC through USB and basically all version of AptX except for AptX Adaptive. Keep in mind that AAC transmitters don't exist outside of basically Apple devices, so it also doesn't have that. Your motherboard is probably using Intel AX200/210 Bluetooth/WiFi (PCIe/integrated) cards. Those are pretty much the best we can get (they pretty much only have regular AptX though) at the moment too. Especially since they let you see the names of the devices connected and the initial battery life. Most other Bluetooth transmitters don't have those extra features. You can upgrade the antenna but it will probably mainly affect the range, not the latency. I basically get the fully advertised Bluetooth 5.0/5.2 range after accounting for the walls and other obstructions. There are AptX Adaptive transmitters now though and they're only $15-20 from AliExpress/Taobao. These are more like hacks or quickly put together, but they're basically the only option for AptX Adaptive transmitters. I use those with my FiiO UTWS5 TWS adapter and they work good enough. Just keep in mind that the lag is still noticeable if you look for it. Here's more info on TWS adapters (has AliExpress links to adapters/converters for headphone/IEM jacks/ports): https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/t3v7wp/looking_to_make_my_arias_wireless/hyv14dn/ Here's more info on the AptX Adaptive dongle (only $15-20): https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/sy33ee/i_ordered_one_of_those_generic_usb_aptx_adaptive/hxvvpyx/ . Do note that some people have reported cutting out issues, see here for more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/sorlh2/wireless_earbuds_or_iem_for_pc_gaming/hz9in8o/ Here's more info on links for the AptX Adaptive transmitters (USB dongles) on Taobao/Tmall/et cetera: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/sorlh2/wireless_earbuds_or_iem_for_pc_gaming/i36cs6p/ . You can buy all of those AptX Adaptive transmitters now from Wolfgo Store on AliExpress. KB8P/KylinWing or 24-bit AptX Adaptive transmitter dongle: https://ALIEXPRESS/item/1005004040010324.html KB9, has 3.5mm jack, supposedly better connection strength (less random cutting out), allows you to configure which AptX version you want to prioritize, just released this March on Taobao, AptX Adaptive transmitter dongle: https://ALIEXPRESS/item/1005004154175611.html The KB8P (from Wolfgo Store) should arrive with the 24-bit option ready to use on Windows. If it doesn't check out the Head-Fi and Qudelix 5K threads about it for the links to the Baidu website/file. Go for the KB9 since it's newer and supposed to have better connection and more features, just be aware that it's only been released for like a month (became available on Taobao just this March) and nobody really has reviews of it. Since AptX Low Latency was never really used in TWS earbuds outside of the first gen Sennheiser Momentum, you have to use AptX Adaptive for low latency. So those AptX Adaptive USB dongle transmitters are for sure necessary. Just make sure your future TWS earbuds or Bluetooth receivers/devices support AptX Adaptive. But in reality, for low latency you need a TWS earbud that has a dedicated gaming/low latency mode. Even TWS earbuds that have no AptX (Adaptive) will have lower latency than AptX-enabled TWS earbuds. Say for example the FIIL T1/T2 Pro series. Those only have AAC and SBC. But they have a dedicated gaming/low latency mode and it's actually customizable in the FIIL app (there's an English translation on XDA Developers Forums) too. See here for more (repeated/same) info on low latency TWS earbuds and AptX Adaptive transmitters: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/uafr3s/low_latency_wireless_iems/i5xiz8j/
