Hi, so I want to start a YouTube channel and I was searching for a good mic to have a decent audio for the content. I will mostly film with my iPhone 14 Pro on the streets, shopping centers and places like that. It will be used for interviews.

Later on, I have planned to start another YouTube channel and in that case I will use it in a studio environment, where I will be interviewing people.

Which mic should I get? I don't know if I should get a better one for features like internal recording, float 32 (which I don't really know if i really need it) or go for something that is more user-friendly and if i see limitations, improve it down the road.

I'm pretty new to this world so any suggestion is welcome! Thanks

I can't seem to dig up an answer on this. We are using an iphone and the whatnot app, I cannot for the life of me get my wireless mic working. It works in the camera app but does not work on whatnot app. This is what i bought: Mic Link

I vaguely remember there is some issues where only wired mics and airpods will work? I ran into this with other streaming platforms.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a wireless microphone setup that works with an iohone and can handle recording classical music — things like organ, piano, or chamber ensembles.

Sound quality is really important to me. I need something that captures clarity, dynamics, and natural tone without that compressed or harsh “mobile mic” sound you often hear in consumer gear. Most of the wireless systems I’ve seen are aimed at vloggers or podcasters, but I’m hoping there’s something out there that’s better suited for acoustic music.

Ideally, I’m hoping for something that’s fairly plug-and-play, without needing extra gear like an interface or a bunch of adapters. Just a clean, mobile setup that sounds great and works reliably.

Would love to hear what has worked for you or what you’d recommend. Thanks!

Hey! Just one question, thanks :)

I use AirPods Pro mainly because I love their integration with the Apple ecosystem, and while I'm on the go I'm not too fuzzy about sound quality. However, one thing that does annoy me is that their microphone is so bad that no one can even hear me, and I end up just having to put them in the case and take the phone out to answer.

Do you guys know about a wireless mic that I can ideally use with the AirPods at the same time while I'm making calls? I saw the Lark M2 ones, but I'm not really sure about if they would work with normal calls, and at the same time as I would use the AirPods for audio input. If this is too hard to accomplish, which is the perfect set up for you guys in terms of on-the-go outside calls (WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc) for good audio quality both input and output (ideally with noise cancellation too). I don't think I would mind to wear something like the Lark M2 in my hoodie for the entire day if that means having quick access to calls by not having to take my iPhone out every time lol :)

Thanks again!

r/iphone on Reddit: Best USB or wireless mic for outdoor band video recording on iPhone 17 Pro?
August 30, 2025 -

Hey everyone! 👋 My band and I are planning to shoot some outdoor videos (and maybe some indoor ones too) using my iPhone 17 Pro. We want to get a complete, professional sound instead of relying on the built-in mic. Instagram purposes.

I’m looking for USB-C or wireless microphones that work directly with iPhone 17 Pro, ideally something easy to use on location, with solid sound quality for both vocals and instruments.

Some options we’ve considered:

Rode Wireless Micro / Wireless Go II

Hollyland Lark M2

Boya BY-V10 (USB-C lavalier)

Rode NT-USB Mini

We’d love to hear your experience or recommendations:

Which mics give you the cleanest results outdoors?

Do any require a powered USB hub for the iPhone?

Any app tips for controlling audio levels while recording video?

Thanks in advance! 🙌 (We play soft folk acoustic music, if that helps narrow it down.)

r/videography on Reddit: Best wireless lavalier mic for content creation but my iphone's lightning jack is broken
September 12, 2025 -

Im a content creator who does mostly youtube but i also do reels and tiktoks. I mostly film with my iphone. Im studying abroad for this year and i did not bring my microphones that i had because my iphone is unfortunately broken in the lightning jack: i went to apple and the only possible repair option costs 700$, and i prefer to pay my rent lmao. So as i was looking for a wireless mic, i realized that they all need a transmittor that plugs in the same jack that is broken, and now, i don't know what to do. Since im a creator in the literary niche, i guess i could plug it in my macbook and match the audio when editing, since i mostly do sit-down videos. but it wouldn't allow me to go out and do anything else if im dependent on my computer for the audio recording. Or is there any machine that i don't know of that could be helpful? Or can i only overcome this by repairing my phone or switching to a camera (the 700$ doom)?

I am asking for :

Budget : 150$ CAD or 100 euros. i currently live in France.

- budget wireless lavalier mic that could connect whitout any receptor in my phone;

- audio recording set up suggestion to overcome my broken lightning jack. Thanks!

Hello everyone!

As my title says I need help with a thing. I want to start recording videos with my iPhone, because it’s a very good quality video and I think, for now, I don’t need a ultra camera that cost million of dollars. The thing is that audio quality is good but not good enough for what I want.

I want to start a new channel, about cooking in wild etc. Can you recommend me a good microphone? (I mentioned that my budget is about 100$) Thank you in advice and I hope everyone is safe!

I've been trying to research what the best option would be but all the content I see is about people live-streaming from a studio or they're otherwise stationary and can link up any mic with their computer.

I'm trying to livestream from my phone on Facebook Live and YouTube. I make dumpster diving content and want to stream live while diving but the internal mic on the iPhone is terrible when you get further than a few feet away.

What are my options. I'm looking to spend $200-500 to figure this out.

I have been trying to figure out a wireless Lav system to use with my iPhone 11 for recording for YouTube. Long story short, most of my recordings are interview style where I check out different careers and professions and talk with people. sometimes two people are talking, but most of the time it’s really just the interviewee talking.

Like I’m just starting out and don’t have obviously the biggest budget and I’m not necessarily a professional.

I’m more or less just trying to find something in like the 200 to 250 range that uses lav mics and has acceptable audio but a lot of it seems that most of them are extremely hit or miss.

The Rode wireless go seems to be the most acceptable in terms of audio, but even that has its issues as someone commented no professional, would actually use that but it’s acceptable for YouTube and streamers.

I have come across other brands such has Movo and Sarmonic; which has its own issues, because when you record with two people talking, it does, it is blended audio as opposed to separate tracks.

I have a Youtube channel and am wanting to upgrade my audio compared to just using my iPhone 15 microphone. 99% of the time I am recording seated at a desk with my phone mounted to a tripod hanging over the desk talking into it. I understand the mic quality is better for the rode pro. I'll likely have the transmitter hooked directly to my phone using a cable because of the way my phone is mounted in the tripod, it would be easier for me to use a cable instead of plugging the transmitter directly in unless I get a different tripod. Is one easier to use with iPhone? I'm looking for ease of use. I do all my video editing from my iPhone and am not wanting to go onto the computer a lot or settings a lot to mess with stuff, or having to transfer any files. Is having the lav mics beneficial or easier for better quality? Really just want ease of use so l can have better audio quality go straight into my camera recordings. Don't care about the Bluetooth but the noise cancelling is kind of nice potentially in the future. I haven't seen any videos only comparing ease of use with iPhone. Any explanation or recommendations are appreciated. Thank you!

I’m looking at doing a low budget shoot and would be shooting on iPhone. Preferably I’d like to get all the audio in camera as it’s done in doco style. I’ve seen several options on eBay but I’m a bit clueless when it comes to sound gear but at lot of these look a little too cheap, if you follow.

So has anyone found some reliable and inexpensive options that give decent sound or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I'm working on a project, and for some of the shoots, people are going to be recording themselves. I want to have them use lavs or any other sort of mic that can connect to a Android or iPhone. I know those won't be the best audio quality......but that said.....any recs for a mic? Bonus points if there isn't too much handling noise with the mic (although I realize I might be greedy in thinking I can get that).
