A lot of employees are reporting on blind that they were laid off after Cisco had a good Q4 results. Security BU had over 300+ impact, Webex/Collaboration , Wireless, Meraki etc. Cisco did a similar one in May after the Q3 announcement. These days, it is done silently after the last fiasco when the news of the layoff leaked via Reuters. All laid off folks should apply for unemployment.

Got Notified Few minutes ago - post regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs
February 15, 2024 - Layoffs can happen to anyone. ... Low performers stay- it’s mind boggling. My former team has a whole lot of peeps watching tv all day with no work. ... Got notice this morning or 1-1 this morning while busy working on tasks assigned. Take a long long walk under the nice bright Sun in afternoon. My review being good for the past few years. Get nice RSU every year still being hit. Can not blame Cisco.

Same shit different day- I feel bad for their employees, working their ass off, the stock price goes up and they want to keep their investors happy. Bay Area's Cisco reveals $10.3B yearly profit, thousands of layoffs (sfgate.com) Meanwhile, in order to keep said profits, Cisco support and engineering continues to tank in talent.

I have friends there, they don't even know who is being laid off yet for the most part. But yeah 12% in a year equates to an epic fail by the executives. The worst part is that those who made the decisions that got them into the mess, won't have any penalty, just make others suffer.

Cisco started going downhill the day the 6500 series was EOLd. Code is buggy, nobody calls Cisco "bulletproof" anymore Costs are astronomical Licensing needs AI to interpret Loss of market share in DC and SP to Arista, Juniper, Nokia, etc Whitebox and commodity ecosystems surged in 2020. They are mature and operationally tested Starting the move away from standards-based networking fundamentals in certs in favor of product knowledge. It's been a long time coming.
