The seal on the back says ‘refurbished’ but it came in a new retail box in a brand new condition. Upgraded my old QC35ii and the bluetooth range on the this unit is almost double.

Mine came in the same condition, but I just assumed they were lightly-used/returned. (There was also a slight tear in one corner of the “cover” box but I can’t imagine that’d be enough for them to sell them as refurb rather than new?)

Can't speak for their headphones but I bought the Portable Smart Speaker refurbed and it had some sort of hardware failure with Airplay. Bose and I assumed it was some sort of software failure because my speaker would appear on the network and Spotify connect worked but no iOS device could connect to it via Airplay. Bose had me send it in for free and after replacing the type c port and bottom cover for basically no reason it still didn't work (obviously). I guess no one in the repair facility thought to test the wifi functionality and just assumed "hey if it plays music through bluetooth then it works". So after calling customer service directly they just told me to send the speaker in for an exchange and they gave me a brand new one which finally worked. In total 1 month after I first received my speaker. I guess just be cautious when buying refurbed because it was sent back to Bose for a reason. Especially then it comes to something software related, good luck with having Bose figuring out why its broken. However their customer support was top notch and I didn't pay a penny in shipping. Just paid in time. TLDR: Go for it, even if you have problems Bose will cover you.

I recently bought the refurbished 700s and they came looking flawless and brand new. Honestly not a single scratch or bug that I’ve been able to notice. And much cheaper! Was looking at these for months before taking the plunge and have zero regrets.

I would think those are mostly Headphones that people ordered, didn't like and sent back so they should be barely used. Is that what I should expect?

I can not speak on a refurb directly from Bose, but incase you’re also considering Best Buy, mine are perfect. I never buy refurbs after a bad camera refurb purchase years ago, but this QC Ultra 60th Diamond pair was on sale last month for $349 from $429, which made the Open Box prices drop too, bringing the pair I got to just $250.99. They had Fair & Good available even slightly cheaper, but even still with a pair rated Excellent, I had a slight hesitation to buy open box, but figured at that price, it was worth the chance and took it. Being I got the 60th Anniversary Diamond, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were returned because of a color preference, because even down to the charging cord was yet adjusted from its original packing (or for whatever reason just didn’t like them). I could not be happier with both the price I got in at and the headphones themselves. I’m sure I will still personally always be a little leary purchasing anything refurb or open box after that 1 bad experience, but in this case, everything through this “open box excellent” Best Buy purchase went & still is, 100% perfect.

Hello!
I am looking at getting some earbuds for use during at a few different times. And I've never owned a pair of wireless earbuds before, so not sure what the right choice is for me.
I will be using them for multiple things:
During walks
In the garden doing a bit of garden work
At work
During travel (primarily airplane)
So a few things are important to me:
ANC, since I will be using them for travel to watch TV shows etc this is a big one.
Fit, as wireless earbuds are new to me, one fear is having a pair that falls out of my ear constantly.
Sound quality, this is obviously important, as im not exactly looking at budget choices, but the two above are more important
I have been looking mainly at the Bose QuietComfort Ulta Earbuds, since my girlfriends has had a couple of Bose headsets and the noise cancelling has always been great.
I am however also seeing alternatives, and earbuds like the Sony WF-1000XM5 are also getting some high praise in most reviews.
So basically looking for advise if the Bose's are a good match for my demands or if I should be looking at something else like the Sony earbuds?

I cannot stress this enough, do not get the Bose QC earbuds. They are notorious for not connecting, not syncing, and stopping working altogether. Do a simple search for troubleshooting on this reddit and you’ll see hundreds of people with the same issues regarding buds not syncing, not connecting, stopping working after only a few weeks. Trust me on this.

I am an airline pilot, recently bought a pair of QC U Earbuds and tried for the first time while flying deadhead. The ANC is...unbelievable. It is miracle-level good. If ANC is your priority, get a Bose. I did not have any connectivity issue.

Can anyone explain to me why Bose has SO MANY refurbished products? Are they so poorly constructed that they have issues right away or are they returns? And why would you return a great looking and sounding device? Their quality is supposed to be high. Just concerned that so many have to be repaired.

They have the best return policy. You can buy and test for 90 days and return it. In most countries there is no option to return any headphones. So Bose has to do something with returned products, so they refurbish it and sell. This usually are good deals as products were used for a very short time.

I’ve returned a couple of things over the years just because they didn’t meet my needs. They worked fine. The last thing I returned was a bass module 500. I ordered it along with a bass module 700 to see which one I wanted and kept the 700. I’ve also purchased a couple of refurbished things and they worked great from day one. Packaging was new and the items looked new. I wouldn’t be able to distinguish them from new other than the price
