This model is the one that operates only by remote. Been working great until today when I went down to my shop and tried to turn it on.

r/bose on Reddit: Bose Wave Radio/CD/Clock
October 22, 2023 -

I've got one of those Bose Wave radio/CD units. It's around 20 years old (I can't remember exactly).
Recently, the unit has stopped responding to the remote control (and there is no way to control it without the remote).

The clock on the front panel works fine, but if I try to turn the unit on, the display blanks momentarily, then shows PLEASE WAIT, which blinks a few times, and then the clock display returns.

Oddly, the alarm clock controls work just fine -- I can set the time, and change the radio station that plays at the alarm time. But that's it.

It's not the remote. I tried the remote on another similar (but much newer) unit in another room, and it works just fine. And I tried the remote from that working unit on the non-functioning unit, and I got the same result with both remotes.

Any ideas? The model number is AWRCC2, if that helps.

Thanks -- any suggestions much appreciated.

Troubleshooting a Bose Remote Control
December 1, 2022 - If your remote does not have a screen and still doesn’t work after changing the batteries, your remote either needs to be re-programmed or is defective. You can consult your Bose manual to reprogram your remote. If the remote doesn’t work after the reprogramming, it is most likely defective.

Control a Bose Wave Radio with a Universal Remote | Sheryl's Blog
I spent some time looking at the extremely complex manual for the Harmony and decided no way. I found another remote that is nearly a tenth the price and, in my opinion, far better: Universal Remote Control URC-WR7. I got it for $27 at Best Buy. Amazon is currently selling it for $21.44. It took just a minute to get it working with my Bose Wave Radio.

July 10, 2017 - Most likely the ribbon that goes to the IR sensor detached itself, this is common if the unit is dropped etc. Insert the ribbons (2) re-attach the front panel and the remote should work fine.

Product will not turn on - Wave® music system IV
If it has been disabled, it will not power the Wave system on or off. Our eyes cannot detect the IR (infrared) light produced by your remote but many digital cameras can. Look at the top edge of the remote through a digital camera (i.e. a smartphone camera), then press a button on the remote. If you do not see a flash through the camera viewfinder when a button is pressed, the remote is not sending any signal*. If you do see a flash but the remote is not working, try the other troubleshooting suggestions to help determine if the issue is the remote or something else.
