Hi. To start with, I'm a woman. I've never worn suspenders in my life.

I want to get my SO suspenders (Happy Valentine's Day, etc). I like the look of them, I think they're cool. From what I gather, I should get button suspenders, like these: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Solid-Suspenders/886C,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_886C_Color=RED&contentpos=9&cgid=0233

However I had a rustle through my husband's wardrobe and I can't see any buttons on any of his trousers or jeans (although his fancy suit trousers are tucked away in their matching sets and I haven't bothered to look at them because I'll have to put them away neatly again etc. etc. and I'm a terrible housewife). Would I be correct to assume that, at the very least, Brooks Brothers trousers would have the requisite buttons - there isn't any mention of it on their website. Or is sewing buttons on his trousers something I'd have to do to actually get some use out of button suspenders? Or is there something about how suspenders are used that I'm totally missing?

Would you wear this with chinos? Or just within a suit context.

Or should I just get the clampy suspenders? They're not as hot though.
