I’ll be visiting Canada on a tourist visa this year and currently do not have a credit card. I’ve been told that Canada is largely cashless so I was looking for options for a reloadable visa prepaid card that I can use while there, came across Canada Posts offerings.
My question is, is it available to me as a tourist? Can I just go in to a Canada Post and buy one and leave with a card?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Canada is not really 'cashless'. Many Canadians prefer to be Cashless and the majority of locations offer cashless payment, but other than for things like online services, service apps, you know Uber, stuff like that, you can use cash in any store. Oh, wait, Hotels will want a credit card, but they'll want a REAL credit card, cause they need to bill the hell out of you if you wreck the place up.

How do we gift visa or mastercard giftcards to a friend based in Canada, but the senders are all based abroad (so needs to be done online)

We are a group of friends that met in grad school, currently spread out across 5 continents.
One of our friend's mom has stage 4 cancer and our friend is traveling back and forth between Toronto and China quite often. We just received work his mom is in her final days.
We want to help our friend with his travel expenses, but he doesn't fly with a particular airline. It's more who is the cheapest at the moment kind of thing. We're figuring out a way how to send money over to him.
Is Paypal the only option we have? Will multiple $300-$500 deposits over a short period of time trigger some sort of hold in his account?

You can order a Canadian Vanilla Visa/Mastercard gift card online and have it e-delivered to your friend. The only problem is airlines/most online travel booking services only allow up to 3 forms of payment. The best bet would be to send money via PayPal/Xoom, Wise, or Direct Bank/Wire Transfer. You can also send money to your friend through Western Union. But Xoom is the easiest between several countries, and can be done within minutes. That’s how my family and I send money to relatives in SEA. Crypto currency isn’t the greatest idea but it is an option if your friend has a digital crypto wallet through an app like Shakepay. Canadians use a more centralized system to send money to each other called Interac E-Transfer. This option isn’t available to anyone without a Canadian bank account though.
