Chakra UI is a great way to get started, and is my personal first choice when starting a new project. However, there is a bit of a learning curve + a mixed bag in terms of bugginess, getting it to do what you want to do, etc. I've definitely had to really wrestle with some of the components to get them to do what I want them to do. I'm definitely excited to try out Panda from the Chakra team though. Radix UI is a phenomenal option if you want to avoid the design system lock-in since it's headless. It is a higher up front investment, since you will be spending quite a bit of time making the components look good. I also want to plug a platform I'm working on, Mirrorful , that has it's own extendable component library styled automatically from a web editor if you're ever thinking about spinning up your own custom component library! chakra is still god tier. It set the bar high for design systems. It’s still very usable, and i’d even recommend it for greenfield projects if you’d like to move fast. however it’s still based in emotion, a css in js library that does not play well with react 18, resulting in sequential rerenders upon initial load. There isn’t and won’t ever be a fix for that: the inner mechanisms of react have changed and runtime style generation is simply no longer a first class citizen. lots of other alternatives have flooded the market, like vanilla extract, linaria and lately, by the Chakra team themselves, panda css. They are lower level styling frameworks, not your batteries ready collection of components. I have been freaking loving Panda 🐼 and the Chakra team are assembling Ark, a headless component library. Ark + Panda will be equivalent to chakra in scope, but with modern and modular tech. so yeah chakra is still relevant and in use, but if you want to go bleeding edge, try the bamboo eater library
