I will be travelling to Iceland for a whole week starting the 13th of September. I had a few questions regarding CC usage. My first question is that I have both a Chase Saphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve card. Both of these CC don't have any international fees and they were going to be my go to payment method. I understand that many transactions including payment at a gas pump requires a CC with a pin. I called Chase requesting a pin for both of these cards and was told they DO NOT have that feature and only a pin can be added for cash advances when taking money out of an ATM. Will I still be able to use these cards in particular when paying for gas and just bypass the PIN feature somehow? Does anyone know if my card will be locked or charged a holding fee? If I do add a PIN for cash advances, and I enter that PIN when paying at a restaurant or gas station will the payment work? Will my debit card enabled with a chip/PIN work at the gas pump? I have a Chase Sapphire card. In Japan most domestic credit cards have a PIN. As my Chase card does not have one, I usually have to sign instead which makes the transaction take longer.

I wonder if I can mitigate this by adding a PIN?

If I do add one, does that mean I will need to use it for all transactions? Would I still be able to use the card with touch to pay etc...?
