I feed my pets fresh meat, and go through about 25# per week, so I try to keep it to cuts less than $2/#. I mostly get it from Peoria Packing, but am wondering if there are other places with a good selection that are consistently equally or lower priced. I live on the NW side but will 100% drive for good deals.

Call a beef farmer in your area and buy a quarter cow. It’s going to be a significant upfront cost but in the long run you save.

Hello! I am from Georgia in the US, and I would like some advice on where to buy meat, even in bulk, the cheapest?
Prices have gone crazy! I used to buy the 5-6LB ground beef at Costco for $25-$30 and now it’s at least $36. I buy in bulk, portion it, and freeze it (I live alone and hate wasting food).
Any advice? Most of what I heard is Costco but I don’t know if it’s a hype thing or if it’s realistically the cheapest.
I have nearly every grocery store (in my region) within range: Aldi, Lidl, Whole Foods, Walmart, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Publix, etc. Much appreciated!!

Not exactly what you asked, but in line with the sub goals of cheap and healthy, you can also mix in lentils with ground beef to lower the cost per serving and make it healthier. Per serving compared to ground beef, lentils have way less fat (virtually zero), similar amounts of protein*, more iron**, and a ton of fiber. Most people in the US get enough protein, but not enough fiber. I would use green or brown lentils since they hold their shape better than red lentils for a similar texture. *cooking and chewing increases the bioavailability of plant protein so it’s not a huge difference. Though I’m sure the protein police disagree. **Eat with foods containing vitamin C to ensure you can absorb the plant based iron. Mushrooms are another good option to stretch your ground beef, you can use both.

My go-to for bulk ground beef is Smart & Final, but that's not in Georgia. Trader Joe's seems to consistently offer 80/20 ground beef at $4.99/lb, for an individually wrapped 1lb package. That's my benchmark. Occasionally the other major supermarkets chains will run a sale in larger quantities, so I'll compare their unit price to TJ's and see if it makes sense.

I’m looking into buying half a cow. I want to have a more animal based diet and want to buy grass fed beef in bulk. Does anyone know any local farms that directly sell halves of beef to customers?
