Will be in Canada for an extended period of time. Looks like Citibank is there, but doesn't have branches?
Is there a Canadian bank that I can use to get cash at ATM, pay the couple of bills I might have, etc. without a ton of fees?
Thanks.
Just bought a dishwasher and paid with this new credit card (haven't received the actual 'plastic' yet, so I may get more information eventually, I guess). According to the salesperson, I'll be able to set up a payment plan so I can pay for the dishwasher purchase with no interest fee as long as it is paid off within 12 months.
Let's assume the dishwasher costs $1,200, and I'll pay $100 each month to pay it off. Question: if I use this credit card for another purchase in December (e.g., a $2,400 fridge), will I be able to set up a payment plan to pay for THAT specific purchase by paying $200 per month? For example, in January 2025, when I pay $300, will $100 go towards the dishwasher and $200 to the fridge purchase balance? Or will they prorate the payment (like all banks do for promos), which means the dishwasher will not be paid off by June 2025 after all (because most of the payment amount went to cover the fridge's balance if they prorate)? In other words, the balance between June 2025 and December 2025 would be $28 for the remaining dishwasher's balance.
I am very familiar with how promotional rates work with MBNA, Rogers Bank, etc. When I use them, I always make sure not to use the card until the promotional rate expires (if one really wants to take advantage of these very low rates). Does anybody know if payments are applied first to the oldest purchase, or if I'll be able to set up automatic payments for each plan at 0% interest (similar to the MBNA Amazon card but with no interest)?
