I'm looking to carry a folding knife to just have on hand (just in case) and because I'm looking to keep on my body, I am looking at a folding knife. According to what I've read on here and other websites, some folding brands are better than others and I know folding knives (or probably most styles) have limitations. But ANY recommendations would be very very appreciated. Thanks for reading.

If "just in case" means "self defense", don't get a knife. Get a gun, a tater, a spray, a baton. If it absolutely must be a knife, get an ultratech or combat trodoon. If "just in case" happens you won't have the time or space to deploy anything else. Also I'd "just in case" happens, do not threaten with it. It is your last way out. Knives are meant to be felt and not seen. Also, get a lawyer.

Do you keep your nails long, or wear glue on nails? My wife is not able easily open some of my pocket knives due to keeping her nails medium length. Not something I’d ever have thought of as a guy. For this reason, she does not like my slipjoint pocket knives. She tends to like ones that use a thumbstud opening method. While I’m not a fan of recent Benchmade brand knives due to the costs going up a ton lately, there are lots of knives that use a locking mechanism similar to what Benchmade does. These are called cross-bar locks or axis locks. I’m sure there are a few other similar types. She likes the cross bar lock knives because they are easy to open and close one handed.
