Seems like every year it sneaks up earlier

I am an international student and me and my parents knew almost nothing about how to apply for financial (even applying to colleges was hard) so we talked with a counselor (not actually a counselor but she knew some things about applying) and she told us that to apply for financial aid you first had to be accepted by the university. Did I ruin my chances to get financial aid?
To those students who have not shared Cornell’s February 8, 2024 email (“Renewing your aid for 2024-25”) with their parents/guardians, note that the CSS Profile form needs to be completed by March 1, 2024 (ie, in addition to the FASFA form due on the same date). I suggest that your fwd the email onward ASAP to your parents/guardians and point them to this link https://finaid.cornell.edu/apply-for-aid/continuing-us-students should you require their input to complete the forms…I hope this helps y’all.
So basically, I submitted my CSS profile a couple of weeks ago thinking we had to do it every year, but I got an email a week ago that said most students do not have to complete it unless noted in their FinAid todo list. I checked after I submitted and didn’t see anything, but now my todo list is asking for IDOC information. Does anyone know if I should submit it or call the finaid office to see if it’s required? Thanks
