How did you start your first youtube channel/video?
I made the channel, named it, created a banner and a the logo and stuff and then just sat on it for a couple months while I thought about how I was going to do it. I even made and edited a practice video where I wrote random things and practiced reading them to the camera and editing those clips together so I could familiarize myself with the process. If I could give you one piece of advice that would be the most beneficial, it's that optimizing your workflow is the one of the best things you can do for your channel. It may feel silly to think about what your labeling system will be when you organize your video clips on your computer or what your order of operations will be, but believe me, you will thank yourself later if you take the time to do that kind of thing before you start. Lay a really solid workflow foundation down. More on reddit.com

Trying to create YouTube channel but there's no 'create channel' button
Even though my Youtube channel is on PC I had to log onto the same channel on my Youtube app on my phone and that fixed it. If you have the app and are logged into a different account it won't work. Hope that helps! More on reddit.com

Should I Create a Second channel for my YouTube Shorts o Can I use the Main one? (Help)
Okay. I commented this on another post that provided a bit of vague knowledge, but I think a lot of this stuff answers your questions. A little of the context makes no sense, since was replying to someone else, but most of this comment should be useful. Another thing is that while I’m not 100% sure of this, I’m fairly confident, since most of this comment is based on YouTube’s current algorithm and systems that we know about. Shorts bring views which aren’t as saturated with watch time (the max being one minute), which has the POTENTIAL to mess up your audience. That being said, since people are more likely to watch the whole video, it means that the short’s retention is fairly high, which could be why they get promoted so much. I think a more apt statement is this: “Don’t post A LOT of shorts on your channel” or “Don’t post shorts FREQUENTLY”. This way, it acts as booster, and not a ball-and-chain. The idea is to have shorts be complementing the normal videos, not the other way around. You can’t post 5 shorts in a week, and then one regular 15 min video, and expect the 15 min one to take off because of the shorts. The obvious question would then be “Why not keep the shorts on a second channel, and provide a link to your main channel?”. The answer, quite simply, is because our brain is lazy. People tend to view shorts and leave it at that, some don’t even bother checking the channel. For those who do check the channel, it’s unlikely that they then look into whether the creator has a “main channel” or not. What probably happens is that a few get genuinely interested and check out the shorts channel, while the rest either click away, or subscribe as some kind of formality. Another piece of advice that definitely shouldn’t be overlooked is to make sure the shorts match your regular content, but offer a different perspective. If someone views a short, and then sees your channel is different from what the short showed, then it’s highly likely, that they’ll click off. Keeping your shorts in line with your regular content is important. For example, I do gaming videos, and I for a recent one of them, I uploaded a short that shows a brief overview of the editing process. For those who see the short, they know that it’s related to a gaming video, so the ones who end up on my channel know the type of content I’d be doing. Hell, they’d know the specific GAME I’m playing, since that’s the focus of the shorts which shows the editing of video. So, to sum it up, shorts only hurt if they’re spammed on the channel, and too different from the regular content. Honestly, that’s the same for any video posted on any channel. That way, you can profit off of the exposure they gain, without the shorts becoming a hindrance to your growth. More on reddit.com

I would like to create a Youtube channel about psychology without being a professionnal.Any suggestions?
I think if you can lean into your lack of qualifications — preface videos by saying “I’m not a professional, just everyday person trying to figure it out with you” (or something of that nature) you can create that gentle friendly corner of YouTube that people love. FWIW only sharing because it honestly seems like it relates — but im trying to do the same with gym content, I’m not a personal trainer and have no professional background, but I’m trying to brand my videos and channel as just a regular dude pushing 30 who’s sharing bit of reflections and experiences on the gym. YouTube for Artists - Resources - How to Build Your Official Artist Channel (OAC) on YouTube
Where channel names are used mostly for video and channel discovery, channel handles are used to be specifically searched across YouTube from the Shorts feed down to individual comments. You can learn more here. Keep your handle close to your official channel name or keep it consistent with what you use across your other social channels. If your preferred naming is taken, don’t worry, this does not impact how videos are recommended! Adding in extra identifiers, phrases, or even jokes that are true to your brand will work to create a unique handle.

r/NewTubers on Reddit: How did you start your first youtube channel/video?
February 8, 2024 -

Whaddap!

So I wanted to know how you have started your journey on youtube. Did you make introduction video first, like who you are, what kind of videos/content you are going to make etc?

I have nikon d5300 and it has detachable mic with wind protector cover. I also have MacBook Air m1 and big ring light. Are these enough/good to start?

I want to make few channels

  1. A podcast kind where i talk about things happening in world and internet, social media etc kinda like penquiz0/pewdiepie (cuz oh boy I have lot to say :D)

  2. Cooking channel (i am not a pro chef but I would like to make different foods and give my opinion etc)

  3. Anime channel where I talk about anime, what I think about certain episode or whole anime show, evaluating, criticizing etc. I once posted a comment on rakudai kishi no cavalry youtube video and voiced my opinion how the mc/the show should move from that point and I got thousands of likes and lots of people gave positive feedback such as how they wished my view would come true in anime etc and they would like to hear more. Although this happened long time ago

Any tips are more than welcome.

Thanks for your time and sorry for my bad english.

Ps. Forgot to mention but if and when I start I would be making videos in english :)

EDIT: Created my first YouTube channel and its about me playing games. Feel free to check it out and feedback is appreciated. Channel: @LeonPlays-y9x

I know it was not on the list but I wanted to start with something "easy" to get used to both editing and how youtube/content creation works so I can move to the next ones.

r/youtubers on Reddit: Trying to create YouTube channel but there's no 'create channel' button
January 9, 2023 -

I'm trying to create a YouTube channel, so I clicked on the bluish-grey circle at the top right of the YouTube page. A menu dropped down and I clicked on 'create channel' on that menu. A box shows up that says 'How you'll appear', and asks for a username, a handle, and a picture. At the very bottom, it says 'By clicking Create Channel you agree to YouTube terms of service etc.' But then there's no actual 'Create Channel' button. There's nothing to click. (This is after I entered a valid name, a valid handle that got a green checkmark, and a picture.) How do I create a channel?
