Looking to get first brand new riding mower. I've been looking around and lurking here and the lawn mower subreddit. I've read alot to avoid the k46 hydrostatic and best to buy from dealer and not chain store if able.
I came across the cub cadet xt1 lt42b at a local dealer. I have less than half are, typical Florida residential lot. 42" is perfect no major inclines.
Any glaring issues with this model? I'm open for other recommendations if you'd like. Lawn tractor is ideal.

Own an older LT1046, would never recommend anything MTD. It's just all around poor quality. If it was me, in the past, I would have recommended a Deere 300 series. But a few months back, my neighbor just purchased a Huskvana TS248XD, and I was impressed. Welded vs stamped deck, and a Kawasaki 23hp engine and a Tuff Torque transaxel. As for me , the Cub is getting retired for a Gravely ZTHD zero-turn.

You will get half the life of a x300 series Deere, or buy the cub and plan on using it few seasons and dump it and move up in quality, the cubs just flimsy if you wanna buy one machine and have it last 10 yrs I'd go.x300 series Deere or get a Gravely zthd 6k.market. The smaller Gravleys under the zt hd use cheap hydros, Deere's z4xx series kind don't hold up either till you spend 5-6k on one even at the postage stamp stuff mowers. Cubs zts are stupid cheap hydros, you have to buy something that's 8-9k to get decent longevity.

For what it's worth, I am starting my third season with my 42" XT1. No big complaints. I do hate their version of an R key. Pain to get out when removing the deck, but they do lock on. I recently was at this decision crossroad and went with the xt1 LT50 ($2750 at home depot and even less with military/veteran discount). 24HP kholer, 50" fabricated deck, k46 trans, electric PTO (blade engage). The only difference between the xt1 lt50 and the xt2 lx46 is the lx46 xt2 has a 1" rear axle vs the lt50 being 3/4". xt2 lx46 also has armrests and front bumper. edit: also the xt2 lx46 has bearings on the front wheels. April 16, 2021 - Just going up to the 46" deck gets the Kohler Engine. Second, for the same price of the XT1's, you might be able to find a couple year old XT2 with a better engine and trans if that is something you'd consider. I had an XT2 with a Kohler Engine for 3 years and it treated me fine.
