Traxmctor supply lists 10W-50, while the one on Amazon lists 10W-30. What does your Kohler manual say? Truthfully, any synthetic from Walmarts Super-Tech to Mobil One will do. As long as they have either an API or SAE rating. The same goes for the filter. Cost around $20. Amazon sells what looks like the same kit for $29.95.

September 16, 2024 - Any type of thirty or forty weight oil will do and a Champ, ST, Fram or similar filter in 3614, 51394, 4967, fl910, or pf1233 size will work great. My OPE all has either 10w30 or 15w40 in it right now. Keep it full and change it regularly and it will run a long time.

They'll fit/work fine as long as yours doesn't have the little tiny oil filter and/or your filter isn't mounted in a very tight spot.

Hey all. New homeowner here.
Does anyone know of or have experience with non-kholer/cc brand oil filters? I'm getting ready to perform the first oil change on my Cub Cadet XT1 w/ a 547cc Kholer engine and was wondering if there are better (cheaper) alternatives. $15 just seems pretty high to me, imo.

Anyone know what oil the xt2 comes with and if I can just top it off and do the full oil change at end or start of the year?

Should be in your owners manual. If you don't have it, go onto the Cub website and pull a copy. I'm going to guess 30W.

First- For a new lawn mower engine, you'll also need to change the oil after the first five hours of operation. Second-10W-30 oil Cub Cadet 32-oz 4-Cycle Engines 10W-30 Conventional Engine Oil. Check it every time and don't over fill!! I just got a new xt1 46 in. Best tractor in my opinion. My last one lasted me 22 years before dying. If you take care of it it will last. Got rid of mine because engine died, and deck finally rusted out beyond repair and it was too expensive to fix. Good luck I recommend you join cub cadet thread on reddit.
