I'm convinced that if you're a non-diverse/nepo candidate, you should treat recruiting as if you go to a non-target no matter what school you're at.

I hate to say this, but this happens at every other target school too. People think that just because you go to a target, recruiting will be easy and the playing field will be fair, but that just isn’t the case. Unsupportive alumni, weaker placement relative to diversity/connection candidates, etc. are all very common.

Honestly as a non-diversity/non-nepo/middle class ORM student at a target school, the rhetoric needs to stop with kids complaining about struggling to break in. If you're at a semi-target or non-target, sure it's gonna be hard but nepotism exists everywhere and is enhanced at the top places. However, with the platform these top targets provide you, there's honestly no excuse to not get an offer. Very few kids at a target who get good grades, are involved in the right clubs and have an internship or 2 under their belt strike out during recruiting.

Forget about breaking into IB, you need to worry about breaking into Dartmouth—it's not like you have much of a choice if they accept you ED anyway and people are so melodramatic on here about cHiCaGo iS iNfIniTeLy BeTteR tHaN dArTmOuTh

“We called ourselves Kyle’s Herd,” says Trish Buttice, Kyle’s mother. “Sometimes as many as 14 of us were there at once, hanging out in a spot by the parking lot. It felt like we were tailgating.” Vince Buttice, Kyle’s father, soon realized that their gathering spot—a large patch of worn grass—could be transformed into a space designed for families like his.

I want you to know that people will most certainly know who you are if you come to Dartmouth based on this post. It’s a small place. And if you come here with that big ass head of yours you will be laughed out of here

Graduating Dartmouth in like 5 days (ignore title). Best experience of my life, and agreed that it's much more social/"normal people" than Wharton, but you clearly have the wrong mindset.
