On the surface level it seems like an introvert’s dream job: wfh, don’t have to be on the phone all day, and it’s an entry level job where you just type type type. But what is it actually like working in Data Entry? What are some misconceptions about the job? I’m trying to determine if it’s a job worth pursuing. TIA!
Hi guys
I’m searching for legit remote data entry jobs that are part-time and require no experience. I've come across many listings, but it's hard to tell what's trustworthy.
I'm looking for something flexible that I can do from home without getting scammed or underpaid. If you’ve done this kind of work recently or know of any reliable platforms or companies hiring beginners, please share your experience. Also open to similar entry-level remote roles. Just want to get started with something real and steady. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Just wanted to share my experience, I tried a lot of things, and here’s what actually worked for me.
I used EliteSurveySites to find high paying survey panels, read their tips, and signed up for a few panels they recommended. At first, I barely made anything, just a few cents here and there. But after a couple of months, things picked up. Now I’m making over $1500 a month with a mix of BrandedSurveys, SurveyJunkie, and others.
I also started doing simple writing gigs like captions for Instagram and LinkedIn, and i make around $200-$300 per month from this.
I started posting affiliate content in pet forums, which brings in around $100–$150 from last month, but it seems the number of clicks are growing day by day. So, I’m expecting more from this.
Hope this helps. I'll update this post if I come across anything else worth sharing.
I have seen a few videos of a guy on youtube researching some companies and fill in information from their websites to a spreadsheet, getting paid 9usd per hour.
Is this just fake to generate traffic to their ebooks and udemy courses and stuff like that, or are those actual jobs? I need to find work. I tried to work as a translator/transcriber but besides almost not finding any work at all, I don't even have a reliable workflow.... Sometimes I go weeks witout anything.
Look. I just wanna pay rent and eat, and I don't even need thousands of dollars for that. But without any specialised skills I am so fucked..
Is that real? How do I find jobs like that? When I look on upwork I don't find work like that, despite the youtuber claiming he found it on upwork (showed the job actually, but he could easily hire himself...)
I understand it is HIGHLY boring work and very repetitive, but I can manage that. Transcription is the same boring shit.
Does anyone actually do it? Where do I look? What is the job title? Help a brother out.
I’ve been looking for the same type of job for almost 2 years. So far every data entry job I come across (LinkedIn, Indeed etc) is bogus. It’s always someone trying to ‘hire’ you so they can send a check to buy equipment for a nonexistent job. I’m sick of getting contacted by ‘recruiters’ who are really scams, and I wish the job boards would put an end to it.
My job is “data entry”. My official title is an Electronic Data Technician but all I do is sit behind a computer and index documents for an insurance company. I only found the job through an old friend who used to work for the same company. So jobs like this do exist but I agree that they are very hard to find and most posts for them on job searching sites are scams. Maybe look up some insurance company websites and look at their available jobs? My company only posts their job openings on their website and I would guess that’s how most other insurance companies do it as well. Or possibly try looking for indexing jobs instead of data entry. Best of luck!
I’m looking for part-time data entry work I can do from home this year. I don’t have experience, but I’m organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with basic computer tasks.
I’m just trying to earn a little extra. If anyone has suggestions or is doing something legit, please let me know. Thanks..
As someone who has spent a few years in the data entry field, I'd love to share my insights and tips on how to navigate this career path. This might be helpful for people who are currently looking into data and deciding if it's even worth it to go. These jobs are mainly based online, and are suitable to work from anywhere in the world.
First off, a little bit of information for those who might be new to this and wondering what is data entry job? Data entry jobs involve entering, updating, verifying, and managing information in an organization's database. This role is critical in ensuring that the data, which is often used to inform key business decisions, is accurate and up-to-date. These jobs can be found across various industries such as healthcare, finance, retail, and more.
Those jobs can sound as:
Medical Coding Specialist
Transcriptionist
Business Intelligence Analyst
Database Administrator (DBA)
Junior Data Scientist
In my early career, I was a data entry clerk at a medium-sized healthcare company. My responsibilities were to enter patient data into our system, update records, and cross-verify data from different sources. Attention to detail was crucial, as even a single error could lead to miscommunication or wrong decisions. Along with accuracy, speed was also vital, as we often had to manage large volumes of data within strict deadlines.
To secure a data entry job, there are several steps you should consider. Here are a few tips based on my experience:
Enhance Your Typing Skills: Data entry jobs require quick and accurate typing. Enhancing your typing speed and accuracy can significantly increase your employability. Online tools and typing courses helped me improve my skills.
Get Familiar with Software: Most companies use specific software for data management. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and database management tools can give you an edge. I spent time learning Excel functions, which proved invaluable in my role.
Showcase Your Attention to Detail: Data entry requires meticulousness. During your interview, provide examples of tasks or projects that required a high level of attention to detail.
Tailor Your Resume and Cover Letter: Highlight relevant skills and experiences. Make sure to mention any software proficiency, typing speed, and examples of your attention to detail. If you decide to go to a bootcamp I know that some of them do help you to prepare all materials as well, so I recommend looking for those ones. Also having at least a few connections in the industry would help you as well.
Consider a Coding Bootcamp: If you are looking for jobs that are dealing with coded information, coding bootcamp can be a fast and effective way to kick off with data and learn how to.start coding. I know there are quite a few ones that offer courses for people with no experience and there you can get the first feeling of how it will look like in real life. My colleague saw this table and sent it to me, I found it rather helpful, so if you are interested in this I recommend you check it out.
Remember, every experience is a stepping stone to learning and growing in your career. Don't underestimate the value of starting small and working your way up. Good luck with your data entry job search!
I've been in a data entry position for about 10 years now. I've kept with it because it's been so easy, I get a lot of freedom, no stress, no micromanaging, WFH (for almost 10 years), etc. but the pay has always been a little lower. Lately, the cost of living is just too much and I'm smart enough to know my job should be replaced with AI any day now (I work for a tech firm).
In my day-to-day work I use a couple of in-house software programs for finding data that is used in automated email marketing as well as Excel and occasionally FileZilla, besides the usual use of Teams and Outlook throughout the day.
I have no schooling in IT and wanted to check in and see if anyone was aware of career trajectories that utilized data entry to evolve into something more or if I should prepare for a complete career change, but maybe something that would put my experience to work. During this whole time, I have been a volunteer for at-risk youth at a drop-in if that's worth anything.
So I'm trying to get out of Walmart right now for a full time work from home job for someone who has never worked a work from home job in his life. it's either at a warehouse, a restaurant or right now, Walmart. is there any other sites that i can attempt to apply at? Or is everything literally a scam these days? Only was able to apply for one so far and that was Dataannotations. don't know how legit it is but we'll see if they'll even hire me at all.
Hello good day! As the title suggest, where can i find data entry work? Ive been through alot of facebook groups pero mostly its a spam of scam posting. Finding work at upwork and olj is also an option pero its currently hard to net a client.
Little background about me
Used to be a donut maker, i used to bake alot and i have been doing it for 2 years pero i know na its not for me.
I am currently interested in data analysis and i am currently learning the technical stuff that comes with it (currently Excel)
I have finish an excel course in udemy and also finished a series from excelisfun in youtube. I can say na i can use excel in a intermediate level naman pero i need a work where i can practice my skills or else it will just slow deteriorate.
Tools i have is my Laptop(8gb/1tb) and an okay internet connection.
I would highly appreciate if you can recommend where I can find data entry work as someone who has no work experience on this area. Or if there is any job offer you can give.
Thanks for reading!
Any advice about how to find legitimate data entry jobs? I did an Internet search for data entry jobs through LinkedIn, Ziprecruiter, Lensa, and Indeed and I fear that many of these postings are scams. What are some tools I can use to determine whether a data entry job posting is legitimate or not?
I'm considering pursuing lifelong work as a data entry operator. Alan Watts said to get a dream job, figure out how you can get paid to play. I figure with data entry, I could listen to YouTube videos and music while working. I'm also a big loner and love the solitary nature of the job. It's also stress free with more reasonable hours.
Because I live a simple life, I don't care about money or status, so those aren't factors.
Thing is, lots of people on the Internet said data entry is very boring and monotonous. I have a BA in English from Duke, so my job coach wants me to become an Editor. She said data entry is a dead end job that any middle schooler could do, and that she doesn't see me doing that for 30 years.
What do you think?
I am looking for career change and data entry is a good place to start. Can anyone recommend companies that runs data entry jobs all the time and don't require experience thanks.
I don't have many skills and want to try data entry but I don't know what websites to apply for and what skills I need. Ty for advice!
I’ve been working data entry off and on since I was a teenager. Everything has changed so much since I last worked. Now they all want a Bachelors Degree for the same exact stuff I was doing with just a HS Diploma. I’ve been typing the “remote data entry” on a bunch of sites, but it’s looking like degree>experience.
I was recruited to a data entry position through an employment agency. Best job I've ever had, but the bar was extremely low, ngl. Since then, I've been promoted to cost analyst!
My advice: find an employment agency and let them use their connections to put you where you need to be. They should NOT require you to pay for their services. If they do, it is a scam. Agencies get paid from the companies they are recruiting workers to.
Been looking for some casual or part time remote work. I do have an extensive educational background but not necessarily specific to data entry. I’ve recently seen advertised data entry positions for FedEx, Amazon, Walmart, cvs, etc and am considering applying but they sound too good to be true.
Anyone know if they are legit? Most are offering full or part time entry level positions making between $20-40/hr.
I’m a stay at home parent but looking to supplement my income when the kids are in bed or napping and wondering if I should pursue these applications or if I’m wasting my time?
So to explain my current situation, i'm trying to move out of my parents house but no job i have so far would ever get me into a place around jax. Since i have experience with Retail, Fast Food, and Warehouse would i be able to apply at all? I keep seeing people asking for people who already have experience and have x degree so idk if it's still okay to apply or not?
Are there seriously no data entry or word processing remote jobs? I know I can't do sales. I can't do office work due to a disability. Is it a pipe dream unicorn to find something?
I would like to know more about websites/apps/subreddits for data entry I really love doing that type of repetitive job for others please post some places where you found luck landing gigs of this type
Because every time I look into one, or someone approaches me about one, it always seems super scammy. I got a text from a recruiter for a biomedical pharmaceutical company about a data entry job. I’d never heard of it before and I didn’t remember applying but thought maybe I did apply through a staffing agency or something so I replied, asking to see a job description…never heard back. Seriously, a remote data entry job would make my entire life right now. I’m an attempting to transition teacher, been job hunting for over a year, 2 kids at home I very much enjoy being around and am not trying to shell out my entire paycheck to send daycare for. A data entry job would be perfect for where I am right now, but I’m really starting to believe they’re just a made up way to steal something from me.
