I like it, but god is it expensive. We used it for a single project but when we looked at expanding it into other areas (like container monitoring) the costs were simply too high. We get everything we need from Grafana and Prometheus with Alertmanager and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. More on reddit.com

November 7, 2017What are you using for Monitoring / Observability of your kubernetes applications?
Usually Prometheus, Elk and Jaeger (standalone, not Istio yet).
A lot of monitoring tools overlap in functionality. If you're at a small company it's a reasonable trade-off to choose a single tool like Datadog that is quite strong in time series metrics, weak for logs and mediocre at tracing.
If you're at a larger company and have more time to setup, learn and tweak your config then it's best to split between more tools.
