So I have had this computer for a while and need it for school, but earlier this year the charger or the computer refused to gain charge.
But it was only recently that I was able to get it to best buy for a very basic inspection. After telling them the problem, they told me that the charger itself was the problem. So im trying to find the right one but non of the chargers seems to be the correct one. They all are the usbc universal.
Like the image 2nd pic shows, that is not the correct one (at least i dont think so) , so can someone please help me or tell me what the correct charger is?

Your machine is a Inspiron 16 7160 . It requires a 90W 4.5mm or 130W USB-C Dell AC power adapter. See pages 12 and 16 of the Specs sheet. The difference is due to the presence of dedicated/discrete graphics on the laptop's motherboard, and the additional fan required to cool that chip's heatsink.

go to the dell website and enter the serial number in the parts section and then it will give you the charger you need. then get the specs or part number and then go look for it on ebay or amazon where it will be cheaper. or just take to a computer store.

May 11, 2019 - Pretty much the only changes over the years have been to make the "brick" portion of the chargers smaller and lighter, but other than that, the common charger design they're still using today was originally introduced over a decade ago, which means that a charger from back then could be used on many of Dell's current laptops, and vice versa.

I have an old dell Inspiron laptop with an Intel core i7 8th gen (this is the only spec I am sure of). I haven't used it in years and was thinking of repurposing it into something like a server. However I do not have the charger for it, so where would I be able to buy a new one?

Most Dell chargers are one of two sizes - 7.4mm and 4.5mm barrels and theyre all the same voltage. I'd bet this is the smaller on an Inspiron but I could be wrong. You can buy a cheap generic on eBay or Amazon, or even find one in a friend's basement or an old drawer at work possibly.

You can search by the model #. If it has USB-C, get a charger that puts out at least 45 watts and use that, or hook up to a powered docking station.
