Dell Precision 5510 (XPS 15 clone) 7 White, 2 amber lights stops at bios

Had this on my XPS 15 9550. 7 white 2 Amber means there is a problem with the LCD, but when I boot while holding D the LCD shows the test patten fine. So it's back to Dell for repair for me. More on reddit.com

Noticed that the power light on my precision 5530 has begun blinking in this pattern, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it means, came here hoping someone might know.

This isn't the first time the power light has begun blinking, a couple months ago it was blinking in reference to the power button light, but then stopped. Now it's started again with this pattern.

Any help is really appreciated, thanks!

Try an external display. I counted 2 amber 7 orange which is a POST code for a dead display.

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has experienced this. Some times occasionally on boot, it gets stuck on the Dell logo and the front charging light starts blinking 7 white, 2 amber then repeats. Hold power button to reset and its fine.

Its happened 4 times since owning this computer (on latest bios etc).

1st time - it corrupted didn't even show the dell logo and i had to get the mobo replaced. (on new mobo its always at least shown the dell logo)

2nd time - it booted fine, but the blinking error still kept going.

3rd,4th time- was when i went away and i believe it either slept or the monitors slept, came back, turned on- stuck on dell. held down power and restarted and was fine.

Rest of the computer works fine and great. (it seems to have happened only when usb c is plugged into a monitor (usb c to dvi or vga adapters))

Interesting. I cleared the 7 White + 2 Amber Trouble Code with a reboot as Local Administrator, careful to have the USB-C Cable unplugged. This is a Domain-Joined computer, the User is not myself but also has Local Administrator Permissions. Windows 10 Pro + TB15 Dock. I am dissatisfied with this computer, it's a pain to support, I'm glad I didn't recommend we buy more, it's too bad I must continue to support this one. And a final note, it's interesting that as of right now the only useful link that came up on Google Search was this Reddit thread. And it's essentially a shoulder shrug.

Does anyone know what 8 white followed by 2 amber flashing diagnostic lights mean? On the diagnostic reference sheets they only go up to 7 white 2 amber.

The device is a 7390 2 in 1 xps 13in, apart from the constant flashing I'm not noticing anything actually wrong with the laptop.

Memory or Read-Only Memory (ROM) failure If competent, take the memory out and try the following - if there are two DIMMS then try each one in each slot to see if there is any change, if just one DIMM the try both slots and also try no RAM installed and it should produce a 2,3 code. RAM issue, visually inspect it to see if any chip looks damaged on the sticks If no visible damages, install one at the time and see if anything changes If nothing happens after the test you might need new ram, if even with new ram fails, it’s a Motherboard issue
