I wonder: why wasn't the pre-existing edge/slot enough? It feels like the whole frame is slightly unassembled, causing the bottom plate to fall out of the very slot designed to keep it from sagging

This happens to most Ikea drawers. Also the Malm drawers suffer the same fate, especially when overloaded. This is gonna help a ton with them as well :) Which screws do you use for this as well as the one going from the bottom through to the wedge?
