There's way too much clutter there and even when you get thru dumpster therapy and clear it out its still small space. I would nix the leaf table..its a good idea, but when extended, the leaves it will take up all the space...and instead get a small round bistro table and two smaller stools that do not seem so bulky. Makes sense to me. Drop leaf extensions are a common design and the rule joint stands the test of time. Here is a link to some ideas for support: https://www.finewoodworking.com/1995/04/01/supporting-drop-leaves Also do a web search for "drop leaf bracket" for a simple way to support the leaf with metal hardware, like this one from Rocker in several dimensions: https://www.rockler.com/12-drop-leaf-support . A more traditional way is with a gate leg that swings out. A question about the design -- what are you aiming to accomplish? When the leafs are down, you can fit 3 people on each side but you can't really fit anyone on the ends because there won't be room for the person in a chair to site near the table. Is that OK with you? Sounds like you want to make a table for 8 when you fold out the ends? Another possibility is to have an extension table with a leaf that you insert into the middle after sliding the two sides apart. This is obviously a more complex build but it gives you better seating arrangements. Without the extension, you can seat up to 6 and have people sit on the ends. And when you have more guests, you insert the extension and now you can seat up to around 8. More on reddit.com

There’s way too many questions there which require pretty complex answers for people here to really be able to provide good advice without writing a novel. I can give you one piece of information though, the joint between the leaves and the table is known as a rule joint. That should at least allow you to find information on it online. Hello! I’d love to get some opinions from folks with an eye for interior design (I assume I’m in the right place for that!) on my recent remodel.
Kindly ignore the mess—I’m mid-deep-purging.
I plan to one day rent this space out. I’m looking for a counter-height table with a drop leaf so I can push it up against this wall to maximize the traffic flow and space, but also allow for being pulled out should the occasion arise. I’m also considering getting one more of these chairs, for a total of five (tell me if that’s overkill or whatever).
Here are a few I was considering.

Edgehill Extendable Solid Wood Dining Table (would likely paint this the base and poly/stain the top?) for what it’s worth my mother thinks these make for uncomfortable/frustrating sitting with knees and feet hitting the base.
