Hi! I've seen a few posts about expected life span of TVs, etc. I'm wondering if anyone knows about expected lifespan of a Dyson stick vacuum. Seeing as these are not a cheap item I would have expected them to last more than 5 years but Dyson tells me warranty is only two years so I'm SOL. They want me to fork out even more money to either repair it or trade it in and upgrade Any advice is appreciated
ETA it's a motor issue, not battery

My Dyson stick vacuum battery carked it after two years and three months which was a bit annoying, but I believe that’s the standard lifecycle of a lithium battery? That said it’s quite inexpensive and easy to replace the battery, if you don’t buy the Dyson branded one. I got a new one for about $35.

Warranty and product life expectancy, whilst inter-related, are two completely different things. and lithium-ion batteries really only last 2-3 years. That said, I’m no electrician but have ordered a replacement motor for my Dyson ball vac and installed it without issue - far cheaper than getting it serviced. For my Animal V8, when the battery starts causing problems I will replace it with an adapter that fits batteries for my drills (way more juice and I have several around always charged and ready to go).

I have a dyson v6 animal purchased about 6 months ago. Barely used since then. I recently (1 month ago) hooked it up to the wall holder and charger. Went to use it and the battery blinked 30 times red. Called Dyson who stated that they would send out battery replacement for $99.95. Specifically said that the battery was NOT covered because i kept it plugged in all the time. They stated the unit should not be plugged in for more that 7 days or there could be damage. This is not mentioned anywhere in the manual so how would an end user know this. They stated that since this is normal wear and tear they would not replace. This did not sit well. After a bit of back and forth they are sending me a replacement free as a one time courtesy. The courtesy should be to tell us how to properly maintain the battery. If you give use a wall hanging that doubles as a charger do you not think people will leave it plugged in all the time.

Hello,
The filter is not working on my Dyson so the vacuum won't turn on. The support has been terrible with them telling us there is no stock and no date as to when there will be new stock. I bought a Dyson because I thought the support and warranty would be good. So far no good....
The Vacuum is still under warranty and I've tried contacting Dyson and they keep telling me the vacuum is out of stock but it is in stock on their website.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue? I have no vacuum at the moment I'm in a bit of a bind...

You’re better off trying a Dyson store. Their phone / online support was gutted awhile ago and is just a shell of what it used to be.

Filters are consumable parts.. we cover them case by case but won’t cover negligence or lack of maintenance. Think of a TV remote, if the batteries go dead, you don’t go and ask for a refund, you replace them usually out of your own pocket. My advice is ring Dyson and be nice. If I get a customer that is talking down to me or going off their head about a filter they didn’t clean, I am less likely going to help them.
